Two Girls Apart
I could barricade the entrance to my castle arms
But no matter
Your stronghold of indifference easily cancels out
The beating within
I may not know what or where,
Or how or why
But I know to read
That which is written on your walls inside
So I leave
Your aching shoreline
In search of peace
I test the waters to see if it will hold
I measure the waves to see if it's safe
My tethered insides giving me rope burns as I try
In earnest to row past the swimmers
And their desire to reach you
Unnoticed
As if people leave you
Everyday
If all that within withers and dies
At least I'll still have my legs and arms

Because you don't really know me
And I don't really know you
You and your heart and where it wanders off to
We could wish upon the same stars
stare up at the same moon
But time and space remain
You are who you are
And I just another still frame
I cannot escape
Even as my heart chooses to move
So I search upon reality's shores for an anchor to use
So that I would no longer move with the current
Towards you
I fight the waves with a heart struggling
And lungs barely breathing
Refusing to render unto you
What remains for another day
