Two Girls Apart

I could barricade the entrance to my castle arms
But no matter
Your stronghold of indifference easily cancels out
The beating within
I may not know what or where,
Or how or why
But I know to read
That which is written on your walls inside

So I leave
Your aching shoreline
In search of peace

I test the waters to see if it will hold
I measure the waves to see if it's safe
My tethered insides giving me rope burns as I try
In earnest to row past the swimmers
And their desire to reach you
Unnoticed
As if people leave you
Everyday

If all that within withers and dies
At least I'll still have my legs and arms
nevermind what remains
broken on the inside
Oh this heart…
It's all so pathetic
Isn't it?

Because you don't really know me
And I don't really know you
You and your heart and where it wanders off to
We could wish upon the same stars
stare up at the same moon
But time and space remain
You are who you are
And I just another still frame
I cannot escape
Even as my heart chooses to move

So I search upon reality's shores for an anchor to use
So that I would no longer move with the current
Towards you
I fight the waves with a heart struggling
And lungs barely breathing
Refusing to render unto you
What remains for another day
This is my pain...

I shut my eyes against the storm
Brewing on the horizon
On predawn's early morning shore
I collapse
I am alone
I am alone and it shall be
That connection is tempting
But not when all I can feel is
The breaking

Spriritually speaking
I render upon me
my heart's desire
For solitude
No longer your earthly quaking
or lying neatly on your heavenly shores
No real eyes to capture my soul
For your freeze frame collection
Or find comfort
in arms to take away the cold
Alone I am
And solitude I seek
So that I might keep the last bit of my heart
In one piece
