Tarnished Angels
Go anywhere in this world
and you will see them
the tarnished angels
discarded by our society.
Those who fell victim
to life’s cruel side.
Paying the penance for mistakes
that befell their lives.
Soiled by depravity
and cast a drift on a sea of unforgiving
to flounder near the ending mile.
The tarnished angels of our society.

Two Deep Silences..
Two deep Silences-
One, of meditative Sculptor
Other, of the Boulder
In timeless penance
Melt in intense passion
Through rhythmic jingles
Of dancing chisel.
A marvellous Beauty
After months of
Labour pains
Is born
Out of its womb!
O! is it the dream
Of damsel rock?
Or, is it Full Moon
Churned out of
Two silences
By sharp clinks

Sister Jane
WHEN Sister Jane, who had produced a child,
In prayer and penance all her hours beguiled
Her sister-nuns around the lattice pressed;
On which the abbess thus her flock addressed:
Live like our sister Jane, and bid adieu
To worldly cares:--have better things in view.
YES, they replied, we sage like her shall be,
When we with love have equally been free.

Exit
For what we owe to other days,
Before we poisoned him with praise,
May we who shrank to find him weak
Remember that he cannot speak.
For envy that we may recall,
And for our faith before the fall,
May we who are alive be slow
To tell what we shall never know.
For penance he would not confess,
And for the fateful emptiness
Of early triumph undermined,
May we now venture to be kind.

New year’s day
Having both good and bad times
the year rushes by
and I know that no hail Mary
or our Father
will bring prosperity
and turn loving
to something deeper
as my prayers go straight
to the Creator
who knows me through and through
and He controls my destiny
as much as His angels guard me
and He has already paid the penance,
day by day walking every step
as my companion
even helping when I stray.

Red Sin
The
Red Moon
slept
easy
over
the
garden of eden
waiting
for
the
worms
to
yawn again
before
the
feast
of
love and joy
requesting

Up There
Up on the mountain a confusion breeds,
Poising on the summit is coherence;
A rotund man confronts conjurors
Who confine him with a penance.
The imposters conjure and jeer to connections,
A congenial man is rotund and fabulous.
The congruence of his actions confused them,
Conjuring was feeling pride, but the summit?
The diet of acts grew daily at the top,
Feeding us with plenty, stamina was retold.

His Funeral
MULTICOLORED umbrellas
marching the black road
towards his final resting place
this is his funeral
people cross the bridge
of the blue river
the day is bright
and the grief is light
He must have
IF he were still alive
Disliked it
He wants black umbrellas all along
Black suits
Blue flowers
A rainy day
He wants his departure to be sad
He has many unfinished business
Too may sins still
Without the penance.

Station Dog
The spirit of the place
lives inside the mangy body
of the station dog
doing penance for the last
three hundred years under
the tree of arrivals and departures
the dog opens his right eye
just long enough to look at and see
whether you're a man or a demigod
or the eight armed railway timetable come
to stroke him on the head
with a healing hand
and to take him to heaven
the dog decides
the day is not yet.
