Quotes about manner, page 4

Guy Fawkes

Guy Fawkes, the catholic conspirator, was alarming me
When he appeared in front of us all,
England did not know, England was to know
All about him, sincerely tragic.
He emerged as a conspirator, coding his soul
With gunpowder, treason and plot.
No man from Spain would be so insincere
As Guy, the mad fault of a century,
A manner of a manner, it was madness always.
Hang him for the Fifth and the Fourth,
Hang his hands and feet and quarter him!
Like he was, like we know, in the head and heart.

To The Rt. Hon. Charlotte Lady Conway, On Her Resolving To Leave Bath.

O Charlotte, truly pious, early wise!
The Pleasures sought by others, you despise:
Nor Bath, nor Bath's Allurements thee detain;
Unmov'd, you quit them to the Gay and Vain.
But tho' nor Health, nor Pleasure will prevail;
The Happiness you give, should turn the Scale.
O stay, and teach the Virtues of thy Breast:
Thousands by thy Example may be blest:
A Mind so humble, and so truly great,
So fitted to oblige in ev'ry State;
A Manner, so engaging and discrete,
A Manner, so inimitably sweet!
These, and thy thousand Charms, who can express?
Seymour, how vast a Treasure you possess!

It is sooth that sin is cause of all this pain; but all shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of thing shall be well. These words were said full tenderly, showing no manner of blame to me nor to any that shall be saved. Then were it a great unkindness to blame or wonder on God for my sin, since He blameth not me for sin. And in these words I saw a marvellous high mystery hid in God, which mystery He shall openly make known to us in Heaven: in which knowing we shall verily see the cause why He suffered sin to come. In which sight we shall endlessly joy in our Lord God.

Manners count

It is your dress, cleanliness and manner,
Not your skin, countenance, and glamour,
That earns you a woman’s concern.

Your clean mind, clean teeth, clean habit,
Not your muscles, jewels and wallet
Are which earn you a woman’s concern.

Be your manner and calls above her reproach.
Refrain from over care and over indulgence.
Then you will have earned a woman’s concern.

You lend her your ear and not eye.
You tend her passion, not her lust.
You will have won her concern.

If you have no concern for women,
If you have no woman’s concern,
Then no use of you being born.

An Ending

a civilized man
no matter how eloquent
and sociable

no matter how
engulfing his mind
is

no matter how thorough
his grasp of all the elements
of this universe

no matter how amazing
is his body and soul
and thoughts
and cares

somehow if he has to be
decent at all

Only the Slaves

How to regard a manner as decent
Is only a requirement of manliness.
It despises the master to see the slave perish,
And the men have reawakened.
Manners of a slave are laudable when man
Is sufficient as a master, and love is a learning all common.
To live a wreck and survive a storm is a slavery
Of every man. Regard a manner in this city as sacred.

The key to the city lies in the minds of men who are leaders.
The painting of a king is adequate for the retelling.
It is a city in the air, and I call it Red and Yellow.
Kings and queens are averse to these intricacies.
We are masters, and they are slaves of the House.
A Palace is built in heaven if you are good.
Only the slaves are the masters in Heaven.

In positive manner

It is always good and courteous to hear” thank you”
It is product of mild, appreciated manner and very true
What else we need as good response to be heard?
At least not a hostile look or harsh words to be feared

You may be unreasonable while uttering that you desired
Not chosen appropriate time when praised and admired
She was most furious, unresponsive and hostile
It had negative impact on mind meanwhile

Yet she restrained and did not loose composure
She never meant to be impolite but was unsure
She found no proper words to be responded
She had presence of mind and never depended

This was last resort to respond in positive manner
“”thank you” was to come later or sooner
It must be taken as yes from willing partner
It is not to be taken as any trade to barter

When your unknown friend lost his job

He knows all of you but nobody knows him
And he was expelled from the sweat-shop yesterday
By the bearded Boss.............! He speaks American English accent though he was an Indian,
' Hey buddy here is your salary and I do not want you anymore
But still we are friends.' He said in a friendly manner.
' Yes Boss it should be like that but your calculation has an error like Indian style.........never mind Sir.......this is the land of opportunity
And I wait till the Black Sun peeps to our Ghetto.' I too replied him in a friendly manner.

* Every nut & bolt of the bridge knows the type of the proud vehicles passed.
My unlucky birth star Capricorn predicts this week.....There have been many changes going on at work.New faces are coming in your benefit.Watch how you speak so it doesn't come back to haunt you.

In The Manner Of Borges I Write Poems In My Old Age

IN THE MANNER OF BORGES I WRITE POEMS IN MY OLD AGE

In the manner of Borges I write poems in my old age
And dream that they are not only imitations
Of poems written by others
When we all were young.

Instead I go on now in the darkness of the night
Because the fear of what will be
Is always so deep in me
It does not need Poetry or Happiness or any other Meaning
Outside itself.

We are small sands drifting on the edge of stars
Lesser beings of a time we will never know
All that we have done comes back to us over and over again
As if we never were

I don’t believe I will ever write Borges lines
He wrote them in his own imagined words

Dillemma

When you are alone and bereft
And no longer so deft
You wonder what to do
Live alone or with the children as they urge you.

You have to choose between a life
Of loneliness and silence that is rife
Only with memories from the past
Which are going to haunt you till you last.

Or start afresh with a child
Slipping into their life in a manner mild
Where you can be sure to hear
The sounds of life and cheer
Rather than live with fear
Alone where no one can hear
Your silent cry for human touch

At times as such
When you are feeling low
