I Scold Myself

Whilst I'm asleep I have no control
and I awake in anxious sweats.
I scold myself in my thoughts,
which causing me nothing but stress.

I don't know why I punish myself,
in reality I've done nothing wrong.
This only happens when I'm asleep,
but it does happen all night long.

It's not as though my mind is troubled,
and my conscience is entirely free.
It's got so that I hate retiring for the night
because I know what waits for me.

I cannot blank out my unconscious thoughts,
they're like nightmares that won't go away.
I desperately need a good night's sleep
so I can stay awake throughout the day.

As A Poet

As a poet I like to clear my head
of what I think must be said,
such as a humorous thought
that should be caught,
or a moment remembered good or bad
whether it's happy, hurtful, or sad.
A great injustice that can't be ignored,
or the fight for a worthy cause.
A tear of heartbreak or happiness,
or a love that's filled with tenderness.
A love lost and one that's gained,
one man's dishonour and another's fame.
Something new, a breath of fresh air,
originality of which we all can share.
Seeing, hearing, tasting and touch,
and that second sense we cherish so much.
Beauty to behold in every sense of the word,
to laugh and smile, and to be absurd.

Great Expectations

I’m so nervous as we face each other,
can you feel me trembling as our fingers touch?
My heart is beating so loud I can hear it,
I guess you know I love you so much.

When we eventually spend the night together,
we’ll kiss, caress, and hold each other tight.
We’ll whisper the sweetest words of love
that’ll tease, tempt, and incite.

Flames of passion will be rising high,
desire will burn from deep within.
Our resistance will drive us to the limit,
but we’ll fight it and not give in.

This of course will only be the beginning,
the next time the ground will shake.
We’ll push our hungry desires for each other
until our body's can no longer wait.

One Has To Try

I'm living in a body of sadness
covered by a skin of despair.
I'm shadowed by a cloud of darkness,
and it follows me everywhere.

I have no happy times to reflect on,
my memories are of torment and pain.
I would like to think life will get better
before I lose control of my brain.

I thought I saw silver stars yesterday,
but I must've banged my head.
My stomach's churning over and over
and my mind's somewhere else instead.

There's no one here to talk with,
I'm alone in this mental void
I never win an argument with myself,
no wonder I'm confused and annoyed.

Life After Death

You spoke many times of life after death
and now you've taken your last breath.
You believed that when you pass away
your spirit exists in a different way.

In a ethereal place that lasts for eternity
with other spirits that used to be.
You travel that space on paths of air
and talk with thoughts that spirits share.

Gentle movements are how you touch
the spirits you once loved so much.
Friends will be met who have passed away
so you can share that eternal day.

Your past life now belongs to history
and you have joined the spiritual mystery.
You said you would try to communicate from there,
but your thoughts can't penetrate this planets air.

Today

What's happening to our country,
don't we learn from bygone days?
We once blindly followed religion
who used God to manipulate our ways.

Deception and corruption are the key words
they've been used since day one.
As people we follow the so called good shepherds,
who charm and cheat everyone.

Can we honestly believe what we are told,
are politicians really so gullible and half soaked?
Or do they have something personal to gain
as an incentive not to rock the boat?

At election time they make us promises,
which are forgotten when they get in.
Laws ought to be passed to jail political liars,
but any such proposal would be a sin.

The Journey

At man's beginning and throughout his journey
he doesn't know where he's going until he gets there.
It can take him along many winding paths and cul-de-sacs.
Often he feels that he has reached his journey's end,
and for a while he achieves contentment,
but then questions the purpose of life's task.

In reality man's journey is ended by his last breath,
but during the time between his first and last,
he has been controlled by a solitary dictator.
Not the Omnipotent Almighty, or even mother nature,
but pure and simple circumstance,
this is man's master and navigator.

Some believe that the final breath signifies the end,
but others believe that it's only the beginning.
Just another step along the corridor of time,
an eternal journey from the physical
where knowledge accompanies you
on your journey to the sublime.

A Dagger Called Betrayal

Without warning you stabbed me,
with a dagger called betrayal.
You displayed no signs of emotion
then vanished into the rain and hail.

I was abandoned on an island of sorrow,
lost in a confusion of memories,
that swirled like dust in an hurricane,
which kept replaying your perfidy.

I died several times of heartbreak,
became withered like a cast off leaf.
The memories I couldn't escape from,
and time didn't bring relief.

Years later I saw a reflection in a puddle,
it was you as you once were,
but then a voice softly whispered my name,
as if it seemed to care.

Touching Numbers

I was sitting alone at home
thinking about you
wondering what the heck
you were up to.

Are you sitting there alone
thinking about me…
wondering if I was in
someone else's company?

Have you found someone new
to give your affection…
are you stroking each other's palms
considering a connection?

Are you snuggling up close
and kissing him
the same as you kissed me
on my neck and chin?

Red Velvet Sacks And Elephants

Troubled times are here
Pagan Min is King,
he's a tyrant and insane,
and capable of anything.

He fears losing his crown,
so he's killing all his kin.
Assassin's are his only friends
and they murder for him.

In red velvet sacks,
the royal family were tied
for elephants to trample them
until no one cried.

This cardinal sin against Buddha
did his insanity no good.
So the assassins were executed
for spilling their blood.
