Quotes about hat., page 15

Some years ago I became president of Columbia University and learned within 24 hours to be ready to speak at the drop of a hat, and I learned something more, the trustees were expected to be ready to speak at the passing of the hat.

I headed out to have a breather at the stage door, dressed in my tramp costume. I had my bowler hat between my feet and there were passers-by, and one of them turned back and said, 'Do you need help, brother?' And $1 fell into my hat!

When You Arrive Late In My Life
i was in the garden
chasing some butterflies
my hat on my left hat
the sun was about to set
you called my name and i fell down
the hill the butterflies escaping free
i rose up to see my whole world change
i am limping but i am happy.

The Clown's Hat
The jolly green Hat,
Boings, like a kangaroo.
Bringing laughter to children,
And smiles to adults.
The Clown's Hat sees it all,
As it travels around,
On the neon red wig,
Of the cheerful clown.
It feeds off smiles,
Off laughter and happiness.
Much like,
The clown himself.

Alles Anders
Mercedes hat den Smart und BMW hat die Isetta,
Aber alles guten Dinge sind drei!
Viel Geld, Viele Probleme und ein bisschen einsam;
Aber wer erst spät zum Stern findet,
Hängt besonders daran.
Das erste Mal,
Zeitlos und Gefühl;
Aber im jammern sind die Deutsche Weltmeister!
Und heute Nacht ist alles anders.

The Cat and my Hat
I have this little Bengal
Who is a kind of Angel
He watches me all Day
Makes sure I don't go Astray
But my Little Cat
Is in Love with, my Raccoon Hat?
They sit together all day Long
As if nothing could go Wrong
They love each other So
If only the Cat would Know
That the raccoon Hat
Is not, 'another Cat'!

A Parent Reprimanded
Sometimes I think 'at Parents does
Things ist about as bad as _us_--
Wite 'fore our vurry eyes, at that!
Fer one time Pa he scold' my Ma
'Cause he can't find his hat;
An' she ist _cried_, she did! An' I
Says, 'Ef you scold my Ma
Ever again an' make her cry,
Wy, you sha'n't _be_ my Pa!'
An' nen he laugh' an' find his hat
Ist wite where Ma she said it's at!

Stanzas in Meditation
She may count three little daisies very well
By multiplying to either six nine or fourteen
Or she can be well mentioned as twelve
Which they may like which they can like soon
Or more than ever which they wish as a button
Just as much as they arrange which they wish
Or they can attire where they need as which say
Can they call a hat or a hat a day
Made merry because it is so.

The Burned Child
Love has had his way with me.
This my heart is torn and maimed
Since he took his play with me.
Cruel well the bow-boy aimed,
Shot, and saw the feathered shaft
Dripping bright and bitter red.
He that shrugged his wings and laughed-
Better had he left me dead.
Sweet, why do you plead me, then,
Who have bled so sore of that?
Could I bear it once again? . . .
Drop a hat, dear, drop a hat!

The Old Family Picture
In the old
black-and-white
family picture,
I see
great grandfather
dead drunk
with his hat
slightly skewed.
In the same old
black-and-white
family picture,
I see
grandfather
as drunk as
his father is
with his hat
also slightly skewed.
Father fools
great grandfather
and grandfather
