Drifting

Drifting, drifting, drifting away.
I got myself a mansion, then I gave it away.
It's not the world that's heavy, just the things that you save.
And I'm drifting, drifting away.
Drifting, drifting, drifting along.
I rid myself of worries, and the worries were gone.
I only run when I want to and I sleep like a dog.
I'm just drifting, drifting along.
The suitcoats say, "There is money to be made."
They get so damn excited, but I guess it's their way.
My road it may be lonely just because it's not paved.
It's good for drifting, drifting away.
The suitcoats say, "There is money to be made."
They get so damn excited, nothing gets in their way
My road it may be lonely just because it's not paved.
It's good for drifting, drifting away.
Drifting, drifting, drifting, uh huh.
I feel like going back there, but never for long.
I sometimes wonder if they know that I'm gone.
I'm just drifting, drifting along.
Drifting, drifting along. Drifting, drifting along.
Merry Christmas...

You can kiss me; only If

You can kiss me on my voluptuously rubicund cheeks
all right; but only if your kiss had the power to
wonderfully transcend over every other conceivable
kiss drifting ominously towards my direction; for
times beyond an infinite more lifetimes,

You can kiss me on my seductively tantalizing nape all
right; but only if your kiss had the tenacity to
miraculously overpower every other conceivable kiss
drifting atrociously towards my direction; for times
beyond an infinite more lifetimes,

You can kiss me on my rhapsodically vivacious hair all
right; but only if your kiss had the temerity to
supremely outshadow every other conceivable kiss
drifting egregiously towards my direction; for times
beyond an infinite more lifetimes,

You can kiss me on my enthrallingly ebullient lips all
right; but only if your kiss had the charisma to
irrefutably nullify every other conceivable kiss
drifting vindictively towards my direction; for times
beyond an infinite more lifetimes,

You can kiss me on my bountifully emollient palms all
right; but only if your kiss had the superiority to
timelessly conquer every other conceivable kiss
drifting baselessly towards my direction; for times
beyond an infinite more lifetimes,

You can kiss me on my surreally royal forehead all
right; but only if your kiss had the magic to
unbelievably decimate every other conceivable kiss
drifting truculently towards my direction; for times
beyond an infinite more lifetimes,

You can kiss me on my daintily embellished feet all
right; but only if your kiss had the magnetism to
insuperably supercede every other conceivable kiss
drifting salaciously towards my direction; for times
beyond an infinite more lifetimes,

You can kiss me on my robustly titillating belly all
right; but only if your kiss had the caress to
astronomically triumph over every other conceivable
kiss drifting parasitically towards my direction; for
times beyond an infinite more lifetimes,

You can kiss me on my uncontrollably trembling skin
all right; but only if your kiss had the color to

Drifting Away

(orbison/dees)
Sadness slips into the room
On silent steps of sorrow
Stealing sleep and all my dreams
Where will we be tomorrow?
Lying with you, crying with you, drifting
Talking till dawn yet we go on, drifting
Dont understand where we began just drifting apart
Drifting apart feeling alone drifting away
We cant seem to work it out
Drifting from day to day
Wasnt it all about, drifting away
Drifting away, drifting away
Losing the feeling
And now the music of the song is almost gone
That we used to play
From sweet surrender from drifting away, drifting
Two lovers lost two rivers crossed, drifting
Two bridges burned, no lesson learned, drifting
Lonely together, hurting each other
Still we cant say that its over
Can we bring back yesterday?
Will we be forever, forever drifting away
Drifting, drifting away

Snowflakes Falling

Snowflakes, falling, from miraculous heights.
Snowflakes, falling, on a cold winter's night.

Snowflakes, falling, airy and light.
Snowflakes, falling, on a cold winter's night.

Snowflakes, falling, a blanket of white.
Snowflakes, falling, on a cold winter's night.

Snowflakes, falling, crystalline delight.
Snowflakes, falling, on a cold winter's night.

The Impossibility Of Identical Snowflakes

Once upon a time
throughout most of
the twentieth century

it was believed no
two snowflakes
could be exactly alike.

Mathematically it is
highly unlikely
for two snowflakes
to be exactly alike.

This is due to
the roughly

water molecules
which make up
a snowflake.

Snowflakes grow
at different rates
in different patterns.

The snowflake

probabilities vary

depending on
changing temperature
changing humidity

within the atmosphere
the snowflake
growth falls through

on its journey
to the ground

Drifting Too Far

Out on the perilous deep,
Where danger silently creeps,
And storm's so violently sweeping,
You're drifting too far from shore.
Chorus:
Drifting too far from shore,
You're drifting too far from shore,
Come to Jesus today,
Let Him show you the way
You're drifting too far from shore.
Today, the Tempest rose high,
And clouds o'er shadow the sky.
Sure death is hovering neigh,
You're drifting too far from shore.
Drifting too far from shore,
You're drifting too far from shore,
Come to Jesus today,
Let Him show you the way
You're drifting too far from shore.
Why meet a terrible fate?
Mercies abundantly wait.
Turn back before it's too late
You're drifting too far from shore.
Drifting too far from shore
You're drifting too far from shore (peaceful shore)
Come to Jesus today. Let him show you the way
You're drifting too far from shore...

So Well

20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26 still alive
Its dragging me under, dont think Ill recover
A stone in the water, a nail in my shoulder
Just put it together, you think youre so clever
Can we make it better, climb the mountain together
Its gonna break, gonna crack
Gonna fall down and smash
Paralyse, oxidise, feel us drifting apart
Its gonna break, gonna crack
Gonna fall down and smash
Paralyse, oxidise, feel us drifting apart
(dont take me down and watch me fall)
Twenty years older, the city gets colder
Still reaching for cover, we live and we suffer
Just put it together, if you think youre so clever
Can you make it better, pull the pieces together
Its gonna break, gonna crack
Gonna fall down and smash
Paralyse, oxidise, feel us drifting apart
Its gonna break, gonna crack
Gonna fall down and smash
Paralyse, oxidise, feel us drifting apart
40, 41, 42, 43, 44, 45, 46, still alive
Its dragging me under, dont think Ill recover
But well make it better, climb the mountain together
Its gonna break, gonna crack
Gonna fall down and smash
Paralyse, oxidise, feel us drifting apart
Its gonna break, gonna crack
Gonna fall down and smash
Paralyse, oxidise, feel us drifting apart
Its gonna break, gonna crack
Gonna fall down and smash
Paralyse, oxidise, feel us drifting apart
Its gonna break, gonna crack
Gonna fall down and smash
Paralyse, oxidise, feel us drifting apart
(dont take me down and watch me fall, dont break my bones and watch me crawl)
Paralyse, oxidise, feel us drifting apart
Paralyse, oxidise, feel us drifting apart

Driftin

(by charles brown, johnny moore and eddie williams)
Im drifting and drifting, just like a ship out on the sea.
Im drifting and drifting, just like a ship out on the sea.
Well I aint got nobody in this world to care for me.
If my baby would only take me back again.
If my baby would only take me back again.
I would feel much better, darling, and at least Id have a friend.
I give you all my money, tell me what more can I do.
I give you all my money, tell me what more can I do.
You is a sweet little girl but I swear you wont be true.
Im drifting and drifting, just like a ship out on the sea.
Im drifting and drifting, just like a ship out on the sea.
Because I aint got nobody in this world to care for me.

Snowflakes

Soft snowflakes drift daintily down,
Without so much as a single sound.
Swirling around, they're a dazzling sight,
And they make the world seem so bright.

Each flake possesses a pattern so very rare,
That no two flakes can make a matching pair.
They each take on a very delicate form,
Which melts away, when it gets warm.

Each unique, frozen crystal is so very tiny;
Glistening in the sunlight, they look so shiny.
Each is a masterpiece: a major work of art,
Which, from our lives, will very soon depart.

Falling snowflakes appear so fluffy and soft,
When, caught by the wind, they dance aloft.
Single snowflakes are as light as a feather,
But weigh a ton, when collected together.

On every surface, the snowflakes collect:
Soon, with white, everything is bedecked.
The snowflakes form a thick carpet of white,
As they settle down, following their flight.

Things, which were familiar to our eyes,
Are suddenly more difficult to recognise.
Snow seems to change the world's face,
And it suddenly seems a different place.

Catching Snowflakes in the sun

It's amazing what people do
When snowflakes fall on top of you
Some run and hide from the falling snow
Whilst others make balls to throw
Life is weird that way
Catching snowflakes in the sun.

As they drift slowly down and fall around you
Look up and open your palms and let land a few
And try to catch their silence and serenity in your hand
Before they quickly melt and disappear
Leaving drops like those from an emotional tear
Catching snowflakes in the sun.

Open your mouth wide and let them land on your tongue
And try to taste the essence from where they have come
For if heaven really exists and is the place to be
Then you could be there in a dream alone floating free
Magic aerial crystals dancing through the air
Catching snowflakes in the sun.

Lie on the ground and you'll be covered from head to toe
Like everything around you in a blanket of snow
Pretend to guide them towards you to the ground
By slowly moving your arms up and down
For a brief moment a snow angel you've become
Catching snowflakes in the sun.

Stand up and brush away the snow
Then build a snowman for you to enjoy
For as the season changes - as it surely will
No longer will you suffer from winter's chill
Instead enjoy every moment before it disappears
Leaving sounds of silenced snow whispers in your ears.

Drifting

I'm drifting I'm drifting
In a sea far away
Begging and pleading
Come save me today
I bob up and down
In the ocean I made
Come rescue me now
For I start to fade
I'm drifting I'm drifting
In an ocean of fears
Choking and gagging
On my fallen tears
Waves crest my head
And I struggle to breathe
As my life slips away
In a circing wreathe
I'm drifting I'm drifting
Far from the shore
Just wishing that I
Would pass through the door
And into a place
Where my drifting is done
And fing peace at last
'Neath a warm glowing sun

Faces In The Street

They lie, the men who tell us in a loud decisive tone
That want is here a stranger, and that misery's unknown;
For where the nearest suburb and the city proper meet
My window-sill is level with the faces in the street --
Drifting past, drifting past,
To the beat of weary feet --
While I sorrow for the owners of those faces in the street.

And cause I have to sorrow, in a land so young and fair,
To see upon those faces stamped the marks of Want and Care;
I look in vain for traces of the fresh and fair and sweet
In sallow, sunken faces that are drifting through the street --
Drifting on, drifting on,
To the scrape of restless feet;
I can sorrow for the owners of the faces in the street.

In hours before the dawning dims the starlight in the sky
The wan and weary faces first begin to trickle by,
Increasing as the moments hurry on with morning feet,
Till like a pallid river flow the faces in the street --
Flowing in, flowing in,
To the beat of hurried feet --
Ah! I sorrow for the owners of those faces in the street.

The human river dwindles when 'tis past the hour of eight,
Its waves go flowing faster in the fear of being late;
But slowly drag the moments, whilst beneath the dust and heat
The city grinds the owners of the faces in the street --
Grinding body, grinding soul,
Yielding scarce enough to eat --
Oh! I sorrow for the owners of the faces in the street.

And then the only faces till the sun is sinking down
Are those of outside toilers and the idlers of the town,
Save here and there a face that seems a stranger in the street,
Tells of the city's unemployed upon his weary beat --
Drifting round, drifting round,
To the tread of listless feet --
Ah! My heart aches for the owner of that sad face in the street.

And when the hours on lagging feet have slowly dragged away,
And sickly yellow gaslights rise to mock the going day,
Then flowing past my window like a tide in its retreat,
Again I see the pallid stream of faces in the street --
Ebbing out, ebbing out,
To the drag of tired feet,
While my heart is aching dumbly for the faces in the street.

And now all blurred and smirched with vice the day's sad pages end,
For while the short `large hours' toward the longer `small hours' trend,

Improvisations: Light and Snow

I

The girl in the room beneath
Before going to bed
Strums on a mandolin
The three simple tunes she knows.
How inadequate they are to tell how her heart feels!
When she has finished them several times
She thrums the strings aimlessly with her finger-nails
And smiles, and thinks happily of many things.

II

I stood for a long while before the shop window
Looking at the blue butterflies embroidered on tawny silk.
The building was a tower before me,
Time was loud behind me,
Sun went over the housetops and dusty trees;
And there they were, glistening, brilliant, motionless,
Stitched in a golden sky
By yellow patient fingers long since turned to dust.

III

The first bell is silver,
And breathing darkness I think only of the long scythe of time.
The second bell is crimson,
And I think of a holiday night, with rockets
Furrowing the sky with red, and a soft shatter of stars.
The third bell is saffron and slow,
And I behold a long sunset over the sea
With wall on wall of castled cloud and glittering balustrades.
The fourth bell is color of bronze,
I walk by a frozen lake in the dun light of dusk:
Muffled crackings run in the ice,
Trees creak, birds fly.
The fifth bell is cold clear azure,
Delicately tinged with green:
One golden star hangs melting in it,
And towards this, sleepily, I go.
The sixth bell is as if a pebble
Had been dropped into a deep sea far above me . . .
Rings of sound ebb slowly into the silence.

IV

On the day when my uncle and I drove to the cemetery,
Rain rattled on the roof of the carriage;
And talkng constrainedly of this and that
We refrained from looking at the child's coffin on the seat before us.

Snowflakes Of Love

Written by Toni Braxton, Keri Lewis, Isaac Hayes
On this day, snowy day
Let me thank you for the joy you're giving me...
I'm so happy...
I have snowflakes of love smiling down on me
winter bliss when we kiss
Every wish my lips could see
I'm so happy...
I have snowflakes of love smiling down on me
Snowy day
Would you please take me away
Away with you...
Hold me so closely
Like the moonlight lights the sky...
In my dreams of soft winter breeze
Eases my mind, but when I wake
there's nothing but leaves
Still, I'm happy...
I have snowflakes of love smiling down on me
Oh, how I imagine the day we met
And those tingles from those little butterflies...
Reminiscing, I get so happy
I just break down and cry
Candlelight burning bright
Underneath a cool, starry night
You and me, endlessly, it's the greatest gift
that love could give to me
On this day, snowy day
Let me thank you for the joy you've given to me...
I'm so happy...
To have snowflakes of love smiling down on me

Snowflakes

Snowflakes falling from the sky
Heading towards the Earth
Knowing not what they will become
Upon their destination and then rebirth.
Maybe they will become decorations
Upon the bushes and on the trees
Or maybe they will become dancers
While being moved by the breeze.
Perhaps they will become a snowball
As being formed in a child's tiny hand
Or maybe they will be a form of a snow angel
Or perhaps they will become a snowman.

Snowflakes as they are falling
From the heavens unto the ground
Quietly as they move and as they turn
And not once do they utter a sound.
Snowflakes as many as they will fall
And as they say not any two are the same
So they hurry to drift upon the ground
And maybe hoping not to turn into rain.
They too are mine and a child's happiness
As though to a child it seems that they do call
But I too am excited about their coming
I love the snowflakes as they do fall.

Loony Balloon

The worlds spinning round like a looney balloon
Heading for a collision with saturn and mars
And were narrowly missing the man in the moon,
Spinning out of control crashing into the stars.
Have we all lost our gravity, reason and sanity?
Is this the price that we pay?
Have we now lost our way on this looney balloon?
Drift away, just drift away.
Its so easy to just drift away.
Drift away, just drift away.
Drifting away on this looney balloon.
The air is running out, the computers gone down.
The mechanic just panicked, hes nowhere to be found.
So automatic control is just spinning us round
No point screaming in space, you just cant hear a sound.
Now the pilots gone mad, he just jumped overboard
With a lunatic smile on his face
And he laughed as he cut the umbilical chord
Now hes drifting forever in space.
Drift away, just drift away.
Its so easy to just drift away.
Drift away, just drift away
Drifting away on this looney balloon.
Were out of control on this looney balloon
Narrowly missing the planets and stars.
Even optimists say that its all gloom and doom.
Weve got to get somewhere or hit something soon.
First class and economy, we all played the game
For selfish profit and gain.
So together well all go insane on this looney balloon.
Drift away, hey, just drift away,
Drifting away on this looney balloon.
Drift away, hey, just drift away.
Drifting away on this looney balloon.
Drift away, hey,
Drift away. drift away.

Triolet: Snowflakes

The snowflakes of the winter night
Crown the land with regal mien;
The driving wind seems to incite
The snowflakes of the winter night
To obfuscate the lunar light.
What purpose lurks behind this scene -
The snowflakes of the winter night
Which crown the land with regal mien?

Ways

hey mrs fields, why do you look so sad
is the whole world gone mad or is it still a strawberry-cake
how i wish to kiss your sweet, sweet lips
to share your blissfulness
it made me feel like floating on a cloud
im talking to you soon
theres so much left to say
on a crystal winters day...
and the snowflakes outside show a million ways
show a million days in their dance
and the wind blows them on and carries them away
into anywhere from moment to moment
hey mrs grey, tell me what would you say
if i turned on the sun and poured all the colours down on you
would you smile and say its alright
i can see the light at the end of the tunnel
and then wed face the sky, sitting side by side
going very far to a distant star...
and the snowflakes outside...
i can tell by the sound of your voice
and i can tell by the look of your eyes
there must be something goin wrong in your life
but please, please believe me, baby, im by your side
theres so much left to do, so much left to say in a million ways
theres so much to be seen, so much to be touched, so much to be loved
take my hand and come out to play ..
theres so much left to do
for me and for you...
theres so much to be loved
please, come back
dont walk into the dark
hey mrs fields, why do you look so sad
is the whole world gone mad or is it still a strawberry-cake
how i wish to kiss your sweet, sweet lips
to share your blissfulness
it made me feel like living anew
im talking to you soon
theres so much to be done
when the winters gone...
and the snowflakes outside...
theres so much left to do, so much left to say in a million ways
theres so much to be seen, so much to be touched, so much to be loved
take my hand and come out to play...-acap

Magic Garden

(jimmy webb)
There is a garden
Something like the shadow of a butterfly
And lies beyond the gates of dark and light
And darling, it belongs to me
And when you go there
There will be such laughter in the dimpled sky
The songs you sing
Will drive away the night
The magic garden
Has a way of making you feel free
Its the place Ive made for you
From match-boxes and cards and dominoes
And it wont fall down
And when your dreaming vanishes
Like snowflakes in the summer sky
Melts away in darkness
And you dont know why the magic garden
Waits without the gates wide open
And darlin, Ill be standin just inside
And when your dreaming vanishes
Like snowflakes in the summer sky
Melts away in darkness
And you dont know why the magic garden
Waits without the gates wide open
And darlin, Ill be standin just inside
Its so soft and warm
Behind those hedges
No hard edges
No hard edges
There is a garden
Vanishes like snowflakes in the summer sky
Melts away in darkness
And you dont know why the magic garden
Waits without the gates wide open
And darlin, Ill be standin just inside
