The Problem With The Wind

the problem with the wind
is its senselessness
it comes it goes and it seems
it does not even know where it is going
you think it feels you
it doesn't
it simply moves around and
comes back around like an accidental whirlpool
it is numb it does not even know
what a rock and a cloud means
the earthworms fear it
the birds too
whose wings it breaks without even feeling sorry
for the caused calamity
the problem with the wind is that it is like silence
not because it woos it and carries it away sometimes
but because it is cold
so cold that it numbs and shatters
what was once whole and heartfelt.

To Keep Up With the Times

It does not mean because I express an ignorance...
It is not fresh.
I pride myself on expressing the freshest of ignorance,
I can deliver!
And make it available.
I do not want to disappoint anyone with claims,
That I am not doing my best,
To keep up with the times.
And 'that' seems to be the main attraction.

With a marketing campaign to legalize it as a sport!

And if it is ignorance that is collectively expressed...
Why would I want to be left behind and isolated,
With a mind that seeks to express an intelligence?
I can always pretend to have that.
Just like everyone else does.
With or without common sense!
And today...
Ignorance with diversity,
Is readily accepted!

In Moods Consistent With The Times

Sometimes it is best,
Not to express feelings...
Of being elated on a daily basis.
Since some people who nurture,
Their bad attitudes persistently...
And...
In moods consistent with the times,
Would prefer to think...
Those who make attempts,
To display no contempt outwardly...
Are actually the ones out of their minds.

Alan Dugan Telling Me I Have A Problem With Time

He reads my latest attempt at a poem
and is silent for a long time, until it feels
like that night we waited for Apollo,
my mother wandering in and out of her bedroom, asking,
Haven't they landed yet? At last
Dugan throws it on the table and says,
This reads like a cheap detective novel
and I've got nothing to say about it. It sits,
naked and white, with everyone's eyes
running over it. The week before
he'd said I had a problem with time,
that in my poems everything
kept happening at once. In 1969,
the voice of Mission Control
told a man named Buzz
that there was a bunch of guys turning blue
down here on Earth, and now I can understand
it was with anticipation, not sickness. Next,
Dugan says, Let's move on. The attempted poem
was about butterflies and my recurring desire
to return to a place I've never been.
It was inspired by reading this
in a National Geographic: monarchs
stream northward from winter roosts in Mexico,
laying their eggs atop milkweed
to foster new generations along the way.
With the old monarchs gone (I took this line as the title)
and all ties to the past ostensibly cut
the unimaginable happens--butterflies
that have never been to that plateau in Mexico
roost there the next winter. . . .I saw this
as a metaphor for a childhood I never had,
until Dugan pointed out
that metaphor has been dead for a hundred years.
A woman, new to the workshop, leans
behind his back and whispers, I like it,
but the silence is seamless, as deep
as outer space. That night in 1969
I could turn my head from the television and see
the moon
filling the one pane over the bed completely
as we waited for Neil Armstrong
to leave his footprints all over it.

The Problem With The Problem

the problem with sorrow
is that it eats tomorrow

the problem with our problem
it does not believe on a dream

the problem with lamentation
is that it thrives on its own

The Problem With Lust Sometimes

the problem with lust sometimes
is structural

there is this rod looking for an
orifice
an orifice wanting to be filled
with sweet hardness
and stiff lengths
its depth utters a name
a longing

everything fits and
so happiness radiates to each nerve

there are other 'incoherences'
and lapses of the world of creation
on the verge of
insatiation

orifice to orifice and the rod
striking another rod in loneliness
bells and bells
no one penetrates and no one is penetrated
like plate upon plate
of pillar side by side with another pillar

each looks somewhere else
anticipating much
doing a lot of sensing out where is that and
where is this

there is nothing but a tree of loneliness
on a desert landscape
accented by a skull of the wolf

without leaves and rotten roots
trying to reach for the moon

the dead moon, the scorching sun
the useless days
the dragging hours of the bloodied gladiator
the amazon hanging dead
on the tree
at the tip of her braided hair

Deal With The Devil

Each day as we walk our life,
in things that we do,
we have to deal with the devil,
in our own private way.
We have to show him,
that he holds no control on our lives.
That we are free spirits,
with our own right to choose.
Life has no easy path,
to where we want to travel.
We have to make the choice,
on which road we want to go.
So dealing with the devil,
and his temptations there,
is something we do daily,
to keep our mind strong and clear.

Fascinated With The Notion

On a daily basis,
Mother Nature is underestimated.
De-valued and unappreciated.
And given little if any respect.

And all that Mother Nature is...
We still take that power that is there,
To eliminate us completely off the scene...
As something Mother Nature will not do.

Although there remains a few of a negligent mindset,
Developing weapons to test to destroy Mother Nature's best...
That have become fascinated with the notion,
Mother Nature can't wait to have them rock her world.
As if 'she' is not prepared to let them have it where it hurts.

Go With The Momentum

When I was a child I remember vividly,
This young woman reaching for sheets to hang...
In one of the community spaces used,
To hang and dry washed clothes.
And I wondered to myself,
While watching from our second floor three room apartment.
Shared by my sister and parents...
If those sheets hung,
Were hand washed.

'I like it.
This is a touching personal interest story,
We can introduce during the next debate.
And remember...
To look right into the camera,
As your lower lip begins to quiver.'

What about a tear?
Let me repeat it again.
With a tear at the end.

'Only from the left eye.
That's when we give you a closeup.
Then begin to lower your head.'

Don't you think,
That would be overly dramatic?

'Of course it is.
But we have to go with the momentum.
That last debate and your appearance,
Left everyone stunned.
Go deeper emotionally.
It will guarantee another win.
Take a ten minute break.
And we will begin again from the top.'

Associated with the Weaving

It becomes difficult to witness,
Someone struggling to untangle...
From a web they did weave strategically.

With an acknowledgement they had spent,
Time in trying to convince,
Their actions and deeds...
Were done with the utmost sincerity.

And to one who has warned...
Through use of observation that connects,
It becomes hard to protect one's integrity.
When standing firm with beliefs.
While others perceive this stance as weak.

It becomes difficult to witness,
Someone struggling to untangle...
From a web they did weave strategically.

Since those now stuck,
In that web that has been woven...
Find themselves equally embarrassed,
Following along as if deaf, dumb and blind...
Because of the 'appearance' of deceit,
A culprit for them has chosen to undermind.

It becomes difficult to witness,
Someone struggling to untangle...
From a web they did weave strategically.

And those following who rejected what had been said...
From past experiences hoped to prevent this,
Find they have become associated with the weaving.
And even though they may be innocent...
A speaking to anyone not paying attention,
Any empathy expressed still will not be heard.

It may be difficult to see as witnessed,
But...
Unbearable to leave as seen,
It is not.

Roll With The Punches

They say that people are livin in the street
No food in their belly, no shoes on their feet
Six black children livin in a burned-up room
One bare light bulb swinging
Little black kid come home from school
Put his key in the door
Mr. rats on the stairway, mr. junkies lyin in his
Own vomit on the floor
You gotta roll with the punches, little black boy
Thats what you got to do
You got to roll with the punches
Tap it baby
Theres all these boring people, you see em on the tv
And theyre making up all these boring stories
About how bad things have come to be
They say you got to, got to, got to feed the hungry
You got to, got to, got to heal the sick
I say we aint gotta do nothin for nobody
cause they wont work a lick, you know
They just gonna have to roll with the punches, yes they will
Gonna have to roll with them
They gonna have to roll with the punches, yes they will
It dont matter whether youre white, black or brown
You wont get nowhere putting down
The old red, white and blue
Tap it baby. alright. all right!
Look at those little shorts hes got on, ladies and
Gentlemen
You can see all the way to argentina
Get it
So pretty
Let em go to belgium, let em go to france
Let em go to russia
Well at least they ought to have the chance to go there
We have talked about the red, we have talked about the blue
Now we gonna talk about the white
Thats what were gonna do
Now we had to roll with the punches, yes we did
We had to roll with em
We had to roll with the punches
Yes we did
We had to roll with em
I dont care what you say
Youre livin in the greatest country in the world
When youre livin in the usa
Tap it baby, alright
All right

Have You Thought About The Way

Have you thought about the way
So many people live today
They drown their fears in wine and dope
And uppers they say give them hope
And downers help them to be mellow
But turn around their backs is yellow
Some can’t make it through the day
Without popping pills they say
Can’t you see you silly fool
Getting high is the thing to do
It makes you more aware they say
This magic drug for which they pay
But now they’re down and life is tough
The magic drug is not enough

The New World Order

Behold the world, this Earth, our home,
This marble and its moon
And how they've got all space to roam
Yet dance a preset tune...
Are we the same? Like puppets here?
Manipulated minds?
Who bears the blame for Mankind's fear
Which daily twists and binds?

Behold the times in which we live,
The super-rich and poor,
The Christian saints who seek to give
While populations soar...
Consider countries one-by-one,
Resources dwindling fast
And nothing new under the sun
That's truly meant to last...

Behold the future times ahead,
The days and nights unknown,
The feeling that each nation's led
Into some Twilight Zone...
Like slaves not given chance to think,
Just puppets on a string,
Left in the quicksand, there to sink,
No rescue rope to cling...

Behold the common man that's left,
Now bankrupt and forlorn
And watch his countenance bereft,
When confidence is torn...
And count the riches, if you dare,
You'll see they've disappeared
And in the time that you've all stared,
More treasures have been cleared...

Behold the news, both good and bad,
It's worse, much worse, my friend,
For Man has lost the joy he had
And senses it's the end...
While banks hold sway, the world will grieve
For prices rise and rise
And with high prices freedoms leave,
So please don't feign surprise...

Behold the callous crimes remain,
The New World Order rules
With no point strolling Memory Lane,
That folly's just for fools...
If not for love, the world is lost,
No pardon on its way
And Antichrist will pay the cost,
Beholding Judgment Day...
