Stolen Dignity

In the ocean of blood she lay still.
legs apart, ribs broken dignity stolen.
the once bright young eyes constricted in agony.
fingers that redrew the rape of the sabines now lifeless.
I closed my eyes and marbled a quick prayer
'Lord grant the coward his wish,
the wish of forever remaining stiff
far away in an unmarked grave.'
