Poem: 'Journey of Life

- 27. June.2006 -

Feet pattering slowly, she walks a long and dusty road
Pondering that provoking thought ‘Where do I want my life to go’
She fears the change that sadly she knows must come
So terrified of that ending day, the day when her schooling days are done

Life passes her by as slowly she continues on her walk.
A week to graduation day, but she’s still pondering that thought
‘Where do I want my life to go’ and then what happens next?
I’ve conditioned myself to think like this, what happens when it ends

Now she’s standing there on graduation day
Crying as through her speech she tries to say
I don’t know where my life will go, or what happens when this ends
I don’t know what happens now, or if I’ll keep in touch with friends

Still young, still beautiful, still wondering
She’s listening to those at her reunion, they’re all pondering
She speaks her story, slow but clear
Everyone’s intrigued her friends want to hear
“I walk life’s journey, slow and unplanned,
Never knowing what I wanted, but for some reason, here I am.
I am who I am not because of the path I chose
But because when opportunity came knocking, to the challenge I rose.
I never knew where I wanted my life to go, or what would happen next
All I know is I’m right here now, because it’s God’s intent”
