Immortality Has An End

The unfortunate old man
He had fortune and he had life
It was a life without heart
Although it was a heart strongly beating
He wished for an attack
To end his torture

For nothing was left for him
In this lonely world
And for him it was indeed lonely
He had lost everything of meaning
And had gained everything for surviving
They called him the luckiest man alive
But he wasn’t lucky
And he didn’t feel alive

The flashbacks tortured his soul
But not his existence
Memories brought tears
That flowed like the waterfall
At the end of the Earth
And the end of the World
Will bring the end of life
But he could never reach it

The doctor was a weekly visit
There were never any problems
“You’re perfectly healthy”
The doctor always said
He wasn’t ever sick
But he was sick of being healthy
Sick of life, of the Earth
But never sick of disease

He felt immortal, cursed
To walk the Earth forever
He’s seen more death
Than a Vietnam soldier
And every death takes away
A part of him
He is split, cracked
Like the Earth he walks on
He and the Earth share a common thing
They wish to end their torture
For they are bonded
With a bond that can’t be broken
Until one outlasts the other
The end of the world
