Handfuls

Let me ponder now - Which words rhyme best with 'anniversary'?
Can't say that I truly know, but let's discover what might be
Handfuls upon handfuls come pouring, flooding into my mind
Considering our two lifelines have become so intertwined

Which ones play well together to indicate, 'I love my wife'?
Can enumerate the countless ways she brightens up my life?
There's such scarcity of paper and not near sufficient ink
To account my many blessings, should I then sit down to think

She is my life supporting system, my shining guiding light
My companion and my pillow soft when day turns into night
An anchor in my stormy seas and shelter in bad weather
Regis, she's my final answer, the 'what' to my 'whatever'

Solid, steadfast, steady she; so seldom in any hurry
Her trustworthy, loyal, faithfulness leaves no cause for worry
Never lofty neither low, she inhabits the in-between
Helpful, friendly, courteous she, so kind and so squeaky clean

At best this silly ditty, an awfully cheeky use of words
The off-hand way I broach the issue, is nigh on to absurd
I ought to sweat the details, to work to make her feel my pain
But she's so blasted un-romantic, there's little to be gained
