Asleep in the Storm

I HEARD THE THUNDER RATTLE
AND SAW THE SKY EXPLODE,
THE HEAVENS IN THEIR FURY
WERE SENDING DOWN THEIR LOAD.

AND HAIL AS BIG AS GOLF BALLS
LIKE I’D NOT SEEN BEFORE,
WAS PUSHING ON MY WINDOWS
AND KNOCKING ON MY DOOR.

THE WIND WAS RUSHING MADLY
WITH SUCH AN AWFULL DIN.
‘TWAS BLOWING HARD AROUND US
JUST WANTING TO COME IN.

WHILE UNDERNEATH THE BEDSTEAD
THERE HIDES A LITTLE BOY,
HE’S HOLDING ON FOR COMFORT
HIS FURRY LITTLE TOY.

BUT WHEN THE STORM HAD PASSED US
AND ALL WAS QUIET THERE,
BENEATH THE BED WAS SLEEPING
BOTH BOY AND TEDDY BEAR.
