A Few Words on Money
Money can’t make you happy –
But it can sure help
Money can’t buy love
But good imitations exist;
Not necessarily Chinese
But if that’s what you’re into –
Man can’t live without Love
But many of us would settle for some money
Money sells – just ask the gangsta rappers
Who throw it up like confetti
Or the televangelists
Who rake it in by the basketful.
Talk is cheap –
Unless you’re the aforementioned rapper
Or preacher –
In which case, the inverse is true;
’Cause they cash in on that money
Who talk of little else.
There’s an emptiness inside –
In your heart, your soul, your mind…
An unfilled void…
You’ve tried everything, searched everywhere
Maybe the filler is
Knowledge, or Love, or God –
You could spend a lifetime looking for it
But then again,
You could just stuff it full of some money
And be content with that…
If I can’t buy peace
I’ll buy me some earplugs
To block out the screams of my soul.
