No Eyes to Kiss
It is sad when love dissipates
In a cruel, sunless season;
When sympathy ceases
And kind hearts become stone;
When a man is separated from family
And wanders alone.
I fear the days
When there will be
No eyes to kiss
And inner, hopeful vision
Grows weak.
One has to embrace someone
From a place of genuine tenderness
Before he becomes a breathing corpse
Awaiting his flowerless grave.
