Causalities of Love
Casualties of love:
The broken heart,
The weary soul that sinks,
The formerly happy rhythms
Of a positive life
Turning slow and morose.
If a friend
Mentions he saw you
And says her face is thin
And the brightness
Of her eyes
Has faded
Into tears of regret,
My own sadness
Will become intense.
One day,
We’ll meet
Simply for tea,
And I’ll bring you flowers.
