Bedroom Candles
Bleak city in the rain,
I’m as sad as an evening
Without a sunset.
When hopelessly
Staggering in despair,
I read the little letters
She left for me
When I knew her heart
And her capacity to care.
I withhold my tears
If anyone can see me,
If anyone is near;
But the bedroom candles
Often see me weeping
In the lonely hours
Of the night.
