Past Love
I woke up picking my footprints
in the reminiscent sands of time
To the era of frolicking unabated
with my youth in it's prime
The existence were so much simpler
the future never worried about
Infatuations seemed eternal,
sans qualm or any doubt
The charted were the courses and
when winds had nearly aligned
An unexpected typhoon smashed through
all earlier that was designed
Changed got the direction and
purpose went dreadfully wrong
Ensuing compromises proved opposing
to what I believed all along
Kept quizzing my innermost recesses
for the causes of this disdain
The hurt inflicted was intractable
and none there to explain
Time has been a great mender
for old hurts to eventually alleviate
For one to learn to move on
and to improbabilities relate
