Love Sonnet 151 I Knew Not Why Roses Take To The Rain

I knew not why roses take to the rain,
Nor why, with too much, they oft wilt then die,
So with this heart, as regards rain and pain,
The same as when I cried, not knowing why;
But why when noonday comes, stars could not shine,
And why do moonshine melts hearts in its glow,
The same as when, one willing night was mine,
Whereby moments rushed, yet Time did not flow;
But why God added one pain to His work,
When without which, Paradise seemed not well,
And which turn is best, when road breaks in fork,
How will I know which gives Heaven or Hell;
...Ah, riddles of the heart, crying out loud,
...For answers to rain, without hint of cloud.
