Joys In Life

How sweet to savor life when free of woes,
While all to joys, the present day prepares,
When home is not a fort walled round from foes,
And love blooms strong and true without the cares;
When hearth gives just the right amount of heat,
Its smoke goes high straight up to clearest skies,
With fire that burns steady in hearts that beat,
Come Spring and snow, or tempest, nary dies;
What bliss for traveler to have arrived,
To home with no more voyage to contend,
And in the homey circumstance survived,
With not a dream of journeys to extend;
.....But joy is not a journey's end to reach,
.....It is that point, with fewer walls to breach.
