Twilit Reveries

I watched the roulette
take over my life
and merged with the echoes
fumbling these streets
with no destinations

I pawned every breath
and wasted my nights
into dreaming awake
whilst the city lights buoy
the somnolent atmosphere

I hearkened for the minutiae
crackling bones of the clock,
snapping every second
like hands vying to hold on
and trembling for my despondence

I dragged my death stick
and basked in its sensual touch -
the light is dying out,
the splints are wrecked;
I toiled harder to be hollowed out

I waited for a shudder
in the oceanic mirage of the twilight
I waited for your shape to climb
the stairs of subdued reveries
and I tarried for a little longer

I tarried a little longer,

I tarried a little longer.
