Fleur de Lis

In this unfettered free fall
To the ocean of sounds
A pensive monument stood
Like a sundered lamppost
Aglow in the stretching dusk
Its immaculate skin aloft
With a dainty willowing
Like praying hands up to heaven
Beseeching safeguard
From the inveigles of anarchism

Its angular bud pouts a lip
To forbid an unsolicited kiss
The suspended blossoming of petals
Uncurled with a redolence
Heralding the shift of vicissitude
That lost its radiance that burns
In the skewing of its burls

And as time mordantly flies
It unfurled a sleeping hope
Debilitating the darkness inside
Against the lifeless age of time

Its non committal invitation
Sent me floundering in meadows
Where a distraught venture lapsed
Only to festoon this barren land

Wistful lily, apprehensive lily,
Purge me from this malady.
