Sanctuary
Poetry is my sanctuary,
To which I withdraw
Very quietly,
When the madness
Outside and within,
Fills me with distress.
The act of writing,
Works like meditation
When, the very awareness of breathing,
Each inhalation and exhalation,
Fills me
With a lightness of being.
