I Should Have Been More Like Her
The little man
on my shoulder says
I should have been more
like her,
sugar sweet
but that's not me.
He says
I should have been more like her-
move to deceive
to keep him;
I'll not;
even if the price I pay
is Lonely.
Should have been
more observant
perhaps
and noticed all this
but mine
is not to compete
rather I strive to
complete;
to link-
the linkage
between
which seems
to me
builds foundations
that relationships
really need
to live beyond
the first kiss.
But the little man
says I am too wise
in this
and counsels
that first catch your prey
then educate.
I cannot
prey
upon my prey;
it's not my way.
I wait;
I say
for the right way
and the little man
