There were moments
when she slipped
again to the edge of her solitude
which in full view exuded its dark charm;
she gazing it in the eye
her hand in my hand
my bringing her back
this once more again

back but still drawn
still able
in the next moment
to say yes
to that sweet interiorality
that withdrawalness
brings.

No one in there but her
when she went there;
no pressure;
a certain peace
which comes from
not being out there
where Strife
and Expectations live.

Maybe that was it.
Being out there.
She just felt that she could
be out for just a small while
but could not sustain
feeling phoney among those
used to the light.

I felt
in these times
I failed her
not being attractive enough
to make sunlight cleanse her
of vampire kisses
and dark attractions.

But she did come back
from that Mental Cave Dark.

Our dance
is this quiet dance
where survival is at stake
with every step advanced;
every step withdrawn matters.
