A Drinker's Prayer
O God our Help at two o'clock,
Our Help at half-past three,
What do You do at four o'clock
When we are having tea?
Must we each tread the bitter path
That leads unto the Cross,
Deny ourselves all happiness
Because You are the Boss?
I'd like to drink a pint of beer
(In fact I'd relish three) ,
Give me a pub with open doors
Throughout Eternity!
