Encroaching upon my starry solitude,
stepping in silence's shoes,
your light footed memory
furtively creeps,
Choking the organs of sound,
like sudden asphyxiation
by the gelid garrote
of a nocturnal thieve

Infinite loom of attacking eyelashes!
Lost casket of buried intimacy!
Open lids of eternal sleep!

Every forward step I take,
stalked by the suffocating wraith,
possessed by demon agents of regret,
no sacrament to exorcise,
no prayer for escape!

Comedic victimization!
Life's ironic onus!
Tragic, sardonic humor!
Mocking jesters of fate!

Ushering crowds of the deaf and mute
into the sinking seats of an empty auditorium.

We could have saved ourselves, if not
for those moments, in which,
we couldn't help but act young.

So many precipitous leaps of conclusion.
So many jagged, perilous landings.
So many stones, submerged below the surface.

The process of thought carelessly blown astray
by the samiel winds of drought.
