What Wondrous Anarchy
In virginal wonder
Rapt in awe
All was God
He breathed, he saw
Imagination!
Wild and reaching
Reasons anarchist
Yearning, beseeching
Insurgent heartbeats!
In Joyful syncopation
Innocence engaged
without hesitation
But:
By wise counsel
Gravity seduces
The alchemist stirs
and cunningly deduces
Heavenly figments
are flailing wings
to be shorn away
as childish things
What monstrous acts!
A brazen withholding
Of life unfolding
Of childlike beholding
Captive now!
Blake did warn.
Reason unchained,
is manacles worn.*
