Torture
What is the most torturous feeling to survive?
It must be the loss of love while you're alive.
Denial of food or nothing to drink
is mild if you compare the two.
For the wasting away from this lack
can be stopped from a sip or chew.
But nothing can replace the lonely ache
that's a constant memory
of all the elated feelings you had
from which you cannot flee.
