Words With the Big Guy(or girl?)
I tell them I’m fine.
I know that’s what they want to hear…
I don’t want to say
“I want God to pick another name.
Dear God…I want to stop holding my breath
I tell them what
they want to hear…
I don’t want to tell them
that I’m so ashamed
Please god…Don’t pick my name from the hat
I tell them the usual
social niceties…
For I know that they don’t…
Want to hear bad news and blame
Please God…just toss me a bone
I tell them I’m fine
Never felt so good…
Never had need
of fortune or fame
So God…please
Don’t pick my name…
from the hat
Good Lord…
Please…Just leave me alone!
