Dystopia

Abiding to a dictator's scheme,
Suffering a depressive regime,
Have to suppress emotion,
Happiness an absurd notion,
Everywhere that we move,
We ride the fascist groove.

Though we live to choose,
Every decision we seem to lose,
Our life has become depressed,
All pleasure has been repossessed,
Victim of the eternal grind,
‘No Exit' can you find.

Ton of bricks about to cascade,
All hope beginning to fade,
Always criticised, never praised,
Never ending low days,
Brow etched with a frown,
Permanently let down.

Unto deaf ears we do plea,
No such thing as democracy,
Long forgotten and cast aside,
By government Jekyll & Hyde,
Will anyone open their eyes,
And realise our echoing cries?

Lost inside a nightmare,
Existence of despair,
Where can you turn to?
Will anyone dare to help you?
With the big boys we can't compete,
So we're left out in the street.

Hunched, slumped pile of skin,
Like a dumped manikin,
Sprawled across the kerb,
A sign saying ‘Do not disturb',
Swallowed up in society's distrust,
We're looked at in disgust.

Open the door, open your heart,
Open the world before we depart,
Let us have one good memory,
Before this earthly territory,
Leaves only skeletal remains,
With tarnished spirits in disdain.
