Pepper

She came into our cozy house
One warm and sunny day
Could have been lost, chasing mouse
Into our lot she strayed.

She was the kind of kitty
Perhaps just in her teens,
Was mild and rather friendly,
Was playful and so keen.

She had her feline manners,
Would wait till she was fed;
Would snug and rub her kitty fur
Would keep her place in bed.

Her name was Pepper, that's her coat
In colors mixed with orange.
White thick fur that lined her throat,
Her eyes, quite sharp in range.

One day our Pepper disappeared
And never again came back
We missed her so but this we feared
Her demise under a truck.

In her short stay she gave us cheer
And blessed our home with pleasure,
Though other kitties are now here
Our Pepper's memory we treasure.
