Quotes about radar, page 8

Into South West Africa

It was on a summer day
that a pair of camouflage coloured
Mig-21 fighters sneaked from Angola,
into South West Africa
and one turned back
and the other continued at 36000 feet
heading southeast.

Although they were tracked by radar
no Mirage or Cheetah fighters
intercepted them
and running out of fuel,
Lt Domingos José de Almeida Vinez
made a dead stick landing
on a farm near Otjivarongo.

The uninjured pilot
surrendered his pistol
to the Police
and in minutes,

An Oregon Message

When we first moved here, pulled
the trees in around us, curled
our backs to the wind, no one
had ever hit the moon—no one.
Now our trees are safer than the stars,
and only other people's neglect
is our precious and abiding shell,
pierced by meteors, radar, and the telephone.

From our snug place we shout
religiously for attention, in order to hide:
only silence or evasion will bring
dangerous notice, the hovering hawk
of the state, or the sudden quiet stare
and fatal estimate of an alerted neighbor.

This message we smuggle out in
its plain cover, to be opened

Who Gets The Money?

I seem to be born with an inner radar
Strangely sharp against dishonesty
When things don't seem to be what they are
The mental nose smells something fishy.

This tragic video 'bout a black boy running
For his very life as the story would say
Was meant to arouse sympathetic feelings
For generous donations to come their way.

While the cause may be valid, assuming -
I have my doubts as to where it was shot
The 'boy' portrayed seems English speaking
From that far away place, he may be not.

Mushroom foundations come up here and there
They will pull at your frail heartstrings
But verify the Truth and always beware
Some get the money but the victims keep dying.

For Them 'That' Begins

The real reason unemployment statistics,
Are dropping?
To keep mouths closed,
And delusions from stopping?
And favor those who believe things are great!
With an economy flourishing in fantastic ways!

When the days of unemployment compensation ends...
And there are no benefits to monitor,
To send to a family of five or maybe ten?
They fall from radar!
They become the hungry and the homeless!
And for them 'that' begins!
The greedy are still the greedy!
The treachery and deceit are still tools used...
For fantasies to continue on mindsets to transcend!
As lifestyles of us all,
Dwindle!
To uphold beliefs a relief comes to release tensions!
And honesty will never be!

Mrs Hermione J Dunsraleigh.

The sun shines as if it has just been born
Every bird composes a beautiful song
And a child's smile drifts across a warm breeze to me.
I see lovers hold the hand of security, a rare thing in this world
They grip it tighter, but love comes or goes as it pleases,
They can't control it.
People mill around the gates, the cars die on yellow lines.
Aunt Priscilla and cousin Pam speak silence.
I watch with radar concentration
feeling like an inexperienced knife- thrower.
I feel cold as the sun fades.
Morning off work, i cannot enjoy the free time.
My sister Janet and her husband Clive are here,
They exchange words, empty conversation litters the path.
The young child of Belinda screams at the man with the funny cloak
As people cry.
''Why did you let my wife die? '' cries Albert to nobody.

A Dot In The Sky

i am used to being
a lone eagle in that highest sky

my eyes are sharp
my claws sharper and more agile

my wings are silver
my feathers platinum

when i met you
i begin to understand what pity is all about

the weakness of the scents of flowers
on those days of May

bathed me and wrapped me into a
prison of sympathy

i tried to lift you up to make you feel the power of wings

Spurn Light

Afraid of the dark I could not be
For I had a light that shone on me.
It swept away my fears of night,
Scattered my demons and put them to flight.

Its cheerful beam put me at ease
As it did all those who plough the seas.
The light beamed out for miles around
Preventing ships from running aground.

Alas this light is now no more
And darkness reigns over sea and shore.
Its days are done now radar's here
To tell all ships what course to steer.

Yet still I miss that friendly light
That brought me comfort in the night.
Sailors, too, have told me they
Were sorry when it went away.

Johnny’s Safari

Animal crackers wait to be released
While Johnny’s appetite is increased
With small hands, he reaches inside
Hunting for a tasty tiger that resides

With radar fingers he tries to differentiate
He imagines the forms as he concentrates
No, not this one... its long neck is too tall
Certainly not this… it’s tail is none at all

Ah ha, Johnny is confident that he as found
The most feared ferocious beast around
A firm grip is lifting the bagged trophy into sight
Soon to be welcomed by an enthusiastic bite

Surprisingly the form is not what was expected
Realization erases the image that was depicted
It is a bulbous Rhino; small fingertips were blind
Chomp! All the same, it is still a flavorful find
