The Pearl Of Great Price

The pearl of great price was waiting...
In matchless majesty...
And he had no hesitating,
When he that pearl did see!
The merchant vowed that he would buy
The best that he could find
And so there was no asking why,
No doubt within his mind!

As with a perfect precious girl,
Like Esther in her day,
He fell in love with that pure pearl
And chose not to delay!
He ran to sell his treasures fast,
This best of all to own,
This blessing that was unsurpassed
That in the sea had grown...

When Jesus told the multitudes,
They smiled at what He said,

Und Gott on high all dings gommand,

Meinself -- und Gott.

He reigns in Heafen, und always shall,
Und mein own Embire don'd vas small;

Und drink der healt in Rhenish wein,

Dot To Dot

Starting from the bottom to the top
Filling in the gaps from the bottom
To the top - dot to dot
If love could make the penny drop!
If I could feel dilemmas alarm-
Stop! For a second - but it
Hallmarks a churlish picture—
Hands groping with hearts radar
Hanging on three words aplomb!
Resting in the silence,
Like an unexploded bomb.
Starting from the bottom to the top
Filling in the gaps from the bottom
To the top - dot to dot - sex without love.
It's just a fraying lover's love knot.

La lyra es, telemann, suite

You were wearing a polka dot one piece
Got your pic
From that white sand beach
You look smaller this time
The sadness is not visible
On your face smiling at the
Digital camera

Got your pic

My own pick
Is the sound of the lyre
On polka dot
On a polka dot one piece
Hiding the bruises
In your breasts

There is really no sense
There is really no sense

Donkeys Driven To Despair!

Have you seen those donkey adverts?
Mistreated one-by-one
And every burden hurts and hurts
While suffering the sun...
The cruelty goes on for miles,
With hardly time to rest,
Yet on they walk through all such trials,
As if to do their best...

Have you seen those donkey adverts?
The look that's in their eyes?
But does your conscience sound alerts
So that you realise?
Or do you wait a minute till
Such horrors leave the screen?
Or does your heart stop with a chill
That humankind's so mean?

Have you seen those donkey adverts?
How much should donkeys lift?

Masterpieces for the masses!
Loved lithographs! Sweet prints!
A treasure trove of canvasses
With wondrous shades and tints.
Consider how this painter hopes
To capture all he can.
Reflect on how he always copes
And stays the artisan.
With finite detail to control,
To share his point of view,
This artist has a special soul,
A noble spirit, too.
Rejecting basics and extremes,
Perfection to create.
Respecting quintessential dreams
And so encapsulate...
It's finished, no more need to fuss!
What glory this achieves!
Rejoicing in what's done for us,
That each, in time, receives.

Carl Sagan

The earth is a very small stage in a vast cosmic arena. Think of the rivers of blood spilled by all those generals and emperors so that in glory and in triumph they could become the momentary masters of a fraction of a dot. Think of the endless cruelties visited by the inhabitants of one corner of the dot on scarcely distinguishable inhabitants of some other corner of the dot. How frequent their misunderstandings, how eager they are to kill one another, how fervent their hatreds. Our posturings, our imagined self-importance, the delusion that we have some privileged position in the universe, are challenged by this point of pale light. Our planet is a lonely speck in the great enveloping cosmic dark. In our obscurity -- in all this vastness -- there is no hint that help will come from elsewhere to save us from ourselves. It is up to us. It's been said that astronomy is a humbling, and I might add, a character-building experience. To my mind, there is perhaps no better demonstration of the folly of human conceits than this distant image of our tiny world. To me, it underscores our responsibility to deal more kindly and compassionately with one another and to preserve and cherish that pale blue dot, the only home we've ever known.
