Quotes about allegory, page 2

I can work in films as long as the story doesn't have a realistic nature. If I'm working with an allegory, a fantasy, it can be developed in synthetic terms.

I wrote The Same Sea not as a political allegory about Israelis and Palestinians. I wrote it about something much more gutsy and immediate. I wrote it as a piece of chamber music.

When They Move In

he speaks in allegory
to eyes of common man
listening for wisdom
soothing to old ears
boring to new shoots
preferred rap culture

speech is short barely
finish my half-dessert
i could sum it up clear
'go love your neighbors'
everybody of us does that
when did you say 'hello! '

Quiet down, class
Mick wants to lecture you
about one of his pet subjects

METAPHOR

What's an analogy?
Is it a comparison? Of how many things?
How are they alike?
Synonyms - image, symbol, trope, figure

A novel is not an allegory... It is the sensual experience of another world. If you don't enter that world, hold your breath with the characters and become involved in their destiny, you won't be able to empathize, and empathy is at the heart of the novel. This is how you read a novel: you inhale the experience. So start breathing.

Shiva 2-Jothilingam-Thiruvannamalai

The holy fire vast is aghast cool
Poleless source of a soul to rule
Matted flames of a roll whole
Mounded mien dominant silence sole

Myth of mysteries truth of an allegory
Fiery defeat of Brahma, Vishnu a divine arbitrary
He is the force of macrocosmic theory
Power of allpowers a surpassing glory

Do not doubt the ism of nature
Omnipresent the Lord to venture
Fiery His blessings to nurture
At Thiruvannamalai esteemed His stature
Consorted with Unnamulai, elated our rapture

The Stage is Set

This whirlwind romance
has lasted through
the years and all the sex
we’ve had,
Between the imagery
of our thoughts
Converged
by the seductive poetry, And,
by-the-way, you’re always great
Even for a minute
when we escaped
Among the verses and stanzas
And the proverbial path twists
Searching every square inch
Ever blind in the mist
Slowly rounding curves
Softly, whispering lips
Reciting visions of you
unforgettably

Allegory

It's an all too common allegory
Pressed from the hands of time
Lent out silent praised theme
Careless whispers never hard to find

With redeeming qualities fading
An elevation of angers hot glow
Bitterness is the totality it's framing
Seperating rightous victims who know

Blazing through their transparent veils
The blame is countered with denial
Running rapidly from the inner problem's core
Slowing down but for a little while

At last catching up to the blameworthy
Who brazenly sit atop the Moon
Arrogantly still in denial
Their rude awakening is coming soon

Gone To Seed

“If you plant honesty, you’ll reap trust”
Aye, the seeds of doubt have been planted,
But such doubts are a must,
If wisdom’s to be granted…..

Seeds of valor, seeds of passion,
Seeds of equanimity;
Seeds that suit every fashion,
Of learning and acuity.

Leaders who sow such seeds of doubt,
Are welcome and accounted,
Than those who’d love to flaunt,
Are ones that are so vaunted.

Where honesty is a truthful story,
Tests one’s heart and mind;
Now enough’s been said of this allegory,
Dear readers: this truth you can find!

Sonnet XXVIII: You That With Allegory's Curious Frame

You that with allegory's curious frame,
Of others' children changelings use to make,
With me those pains for God's sake do not take:
I list not dig so deep for brazen fame.

When I say "Stella," I do mean the same
Princess of Beauty, for whose only sake
The reins of Love I love, though never slake,
And joy therein, though nations count it shame.

I beg no subject to use eloquence,
Nor in hid ways do guide Philosophy:
Look at my hands for no such quintessence;

But know that I in pure simplicity
Breathe out the flames which burn within my heart
Love only reading unto me this art.
