Why should a foolish marriage vow

Why should a foolish marriage vow,
Which long ago was made,
Oblige us to each other now
When passion is decay'd?
We lov'd, and we lov'd, as long as we could,
Till our love was lov'd out in us both:
But our marriage is dead, when the pleasure is fled:
'Twas pleasure first made it an oath.

If I have pleasures for a friend,
And farther love in store,
What wrong has he whose joys did end,
And who could give no more?
'Tis a madness that he should be jealous of me,
Or that I should bar him of another:
For all we can gain is to give our selves pain,
When neither can hinder the other.

Why Should I Set Myself To Limits?

I've revealed so much of me.
Some of it seems fantasy.
And as a writer,
I've always sought the truth.
With the keeping of content,
Honestly pursued.

And there are some experiences,
I have had to yet expose.
There are 'some' things I will not reveal...
Even though some mouths will open,
To never again be closed.

I've known there has been an aspect of my life,
That will highlight my creative abilities.
And because of that I am not uptight.
I know there will be those who will impose their beliefs.
That is why I've chosen to uncover...
This side of my life with no regrets to keep discreet.

'What about your 'sexuality, Lawrence? '

Sometimes I like it.
Sometimes I don't.
Sometimes sex bores.
And other times it wont.

And at my age preferences get old.
I've known the heat of passion.
And I've known some shoulders,
That were frozen cold.

Sex is sex.
I don't regard it as something I do best.
And today people lay with whomever they choose.
And 'if' I am to knock boots...
My sexuality will not be abused.

Hey,
What can I say?
Whatever is controversial,
I will test that too!

'So what are you saying?
You are also gay? '

If it's in the mix...
Why should I set myself to limits?

What sex is a tree?
I can be seen hugging them all the time.
And yet,
Not one of them...
Has confessed to having preferences.
And have accepted my presence,
Without trying to pry to see what's in my mind!

Why Should I Cry?

How could it come so soon?
How could you hurt me so badly?
And of the lonely evenings to stay without you,
For you are now hidden like a lizard.
I cannot share crocodile tears on this love,
Because i spoke the words of wisdom to you;
But like the Trans African Slave Trade,
The news came to me like the sacred python.

Cream of chicken soup,
How long will you be very thick and tasty? !
And why should i cry on this love?
Because she was welcomed to my abode and now She's gone,
But the seat of my love will live forever!
So, why should i cry?

Potential love and sensational acts,
And of a place to visit when love calls;
But to be with the pineapple juice is like the wind of change.
I'm very pleased and very proud of her,
So do extend my greetings to her family members as well;
For she is the one who had hurt me so badly.

Today's fast-paced world,
And today's way of life called love by many;
But, why should i cry?
I thought it was like a lifetime contract but,
Now it is like broken wings of love;
And i still understand why she left me.

Why Should We Worry/What Will Become Of Us?

WHY SHOULD WE WORRY

Why should we worry
What will become of us?
For the end of the end of everything
In God Alone we need trust.

Why Should I.........?

What is okay with your culture is totally a taboo to mine!
So why should i kiss you in the eyes of the public?

Give ear to me when i speak,
For you have to start all over again when you fall;
And the brook dried up because there was no rain.

Why Should I Waste Your Time

'Say it! '

No!
I've kinda said that already.

'Well,
Say that! '

No!
I'm saving that to say later.

'Then what is the purpose,
Of saying anything at all? '

Exactly!
And that's the point I want to make.
Why should I waste your time...
By wasting mine?
Trying to find something to say.

'Then don't say anything! '

I wouldn't,
If you weren't here!

Why Should We Be Immortal?

WHY SHOULD WE BE IMMORTAL?

Why should we be immortal?
Who are we, after all?
So many faces and phases
In a life.
So many times and memories-
So much failure and incompleteness.

Our bodies changing with us always
And we sometimes at the end
Brain- damaged and lost
Who are we?
What are we?

God, why did You create us
So incomplete and so failing
And so much worse at the end
Than at the beginning?

Why Should You Take Heed of Me?

Why Should You Take Heed of Me?

God, God, God,
Why should You take heed of me?
Why do I take so much heed of myself?
What is this all about
You and Your Universe
You and Your ‘Infinites’ and Your ‘Vasts’ and Your ‘Beyonds? '
What is this all about
This mind this consciousness this me me me?

God Are You playing a game
With us
As I played one with the ants
A lifetime ago
When I was
A non- wanton schoolboy?

Why Should I Be the Bait For You to Satiate Upon My Irritation?

I could make more sense,
If I chose to leave you some.
But I know if I did...
A clarity would not be recognized.
Or something like it,
Has been welcomed.

And I'd be left to explain,
What still would not be comprehended.

And my patience can no longer wait...
For that date to come,
Each time a thought in your mind is placed.
Or your eyes to show me,
An understanding has been done!

Why should I be the bait,
For you to satiate upon my irritation?

Why Should I Be That Optimistic?

If I was given the opportunity each day,
To seek a happiness with that on my mind to pursue...
Why would I spend twenty three hours of it,
Being negative and feeling as miserable as possible?

'That's a real good question.
Especially when one has been given twenty four.
To me...
That would be a wasted day.'

But...
You would still have one hour left.

'To do what?
It already takes me a full two hours,
To find someone to listen to my complaints.
And why should I be that optimistic? '

Why Should I Have A Poem?

WHY SHOULD I HAVE A POEM?

Why should I have a poem?
Who am I to have a poem?
Who is anyone to have a poem?

But then again
Aren’t we all poems?
Many poems
And each one of us many voices
And who knows how deep feelings
We ourselves cannot understand
And lingerings of beauty
We can ourselves barely decipher?

Who knows what a poem is
And what life means
And why we write and read
And what words move us
In the middle of the night
Or at the end of the day
When even our dreams are asleep?

Sonnet XLIII: Why Should Your Fair Eyes

Why should your fair eyes with such sovereign grace
Disperse their rays on every vulgar spirit,
Whilst I in darkness, in the self-same place,
Get not one glance to recompense my merit?
So doth the plowman gaze the wand'ring star,
And only rest contented with the light,
That never learn'd what constellations are
Beyond the bent of his unknowing sight.
O why should Beauty, custom to obey,
To their gross sense apply herself so ill?
Would God I were as ignorant as they,
When I am made unhappy by my skill,
Only compell'd on this poor good to boast:
Heav'ns are not kind to them that know them most.

Sonnet XVII: Why Should I Sing in Verse

Why should I sing in verse, why should I frame
These sad neglected notes for her dear sake?
Why should I offer up onto her name
The sweetest sacrifice my youth can make?
Why should I strive to make her live for ever,
That never deigns to give me joy to live?
Why should m'afflicted Muse so much endeavor,
Such honor unto cruelty to give?
If her defects have purchas'd her this fame,
What should her virtues do, her smiles, her love?
If this her worst, how should her best enflame?
What passions would her milder favors move?
Favors (I think) would sense quite overcome,
And that makes happy Lovers ever dumb.

Why should I, from this long and losing strife

Why should I, from this long and losing strife
When summoned to depart, halt half-afraid?
Death is full quittance for the debts of life,
Discharging the account, though still unpaid.
Who is it that can say he still hath met
Friendship's just claim and Duty's punctual call?
How little do we give for what we get,
And but for Death we should be bankrupts all!
For loan of life the richest but compound,
Love's priceless gift we but repay in part;
Beggared and bare our balance would be found,
If all we owe were honoured by the heart.
Die, and the lenders our default forget,
Nay, though defrauded, then deem theirs the debt.

Who Is It For You To Tell Me What's Right For Me?

who are you to tell me who i can't be,
to tell me who i can't be with,
to tell me who is right for me,
when you don't walk in my shoes,
i'm not going to be you,
so why are you trying to turn me into you,
i have a brain, i have a mind, i know what i want,
why can't you see that?
instead you see my flaws,
what i have to change about myself,
what if i don't want to be like everybody else?
i like my weirdness and my uniqueness,
why do i have to change for you to like me?
God made me who i am for a reason,
He doesn't make mistakes,
he makes gifts to present to the world,
why should we be ashamed for who we are?

Love Sonnet 71: Why should roses be spiked with prickly thorns,

Why should roses be spiked with prickly thorns,
And honey, be guarded by stinging bees?
Why should betrayal stalk whom crown adorns,
And fruits, be picked where one could fall from trees?
Heaven demands a sacrifice so great,
As sweetness oft requires an equal pain;
In most paths, laid are obstacles that wait,
The norm is to have loss for every gain;
But these, my love, are trifles to be paid,
As fools rush in and bother not to look,
Giving credence to what is often said,
Of fish that swallows line, sinker and hook;
……..Yet despite all, to which lovers submit,
……..Life is not worth a cent if without it.

Love Sonnet 184 Why should the waves keep rushing to the shore?

Why should the waves keep rushing to the shore?
What great wisdom derives from thought of this?
What did they say, wise men, sages of yore,
That recent hoary wits would all but miss?
Fools often pledge true love, fervent as waves,
In passion so intense, whilst waters roll,
Only to find doldrums, that stop their raves,
And soon their hearts, to strange gardens would stroll;
Love that stretches too far, far out to reach,
Madness that fades with Time, its vagaries,
If it be sea, it ends on yonder beach,
And moon, would strip it there of memories;
.....Waves mimic life, the rise and fall of things,
.....Of fools and lovers, of beggars and kings.

William Butler Yeats

Why Should Not Old Men Be Mad?

WHY should not old men be mad?
Some have known a likely lad
That had a sound fly-fisher's wrist
Turn to a drunken journalist;
A girl that knew all Dante once
Live to bear children to a dunce;
A Helen of social welfare dream,
Climb on a wagonette to scream.
Some think it a matter of course that chance
Should starve good men and bad advance,
That if their neighbours figured plain,
As though upon a lighted screen,
No single story would they find
Of an unbroken happy mind,
A finish worthy of the start.
Young men know nothing of this sort,
Observant old men know it well;
And when they know what old books tell
And that no better can be had,
Know why an old man should be mad.

Why Should It Matter

why should it matter who you like?
we are human being,
who is for somebody to judge,
we judge because we are afraid of the truth,
afraid that we won't find nobody to like us,
but when we do find love,
we run from it as fast as we can,
it what we want,
but soo afraid to go after,
so why she we bring somebody else down,
for who they like and attracted to,
if it makes them happy,
should we just be happy,
but instead we kind of hate them,
why?
because they have the courage,
to put themselves out there and find love,
while you sit from the sideline,
wishing you had what they had,
the confident, willpowere, and courage,
to stand proud of who you are,
and be the person you always want to be?
so why should it matter who you like?

Why Should I Wish To Just Sit On a Pedestal?

To sit on pedestals,
May be heights some wish to achieve.
But as for me...
Why should I place such limits on myself?
Isn't the Universe boundless?

And we are gifted to live on an Earth,
Suspended as it spins.
With only the force of gravity,
To keep it mysteriously positioned.

Why should I wish to just sit on a pedestal?
There is something far greater than that,
I am a part of and desire to explore.
Too many miracles surround me,
I witness being produced.

And I would choose just to sit on a pedestal?
That may be what 'you' choose to do.
But I've got my sights on STARS!
With a blazing done in all of this Cosmic wonder.

Why should I wish to just sit on a pedestal?
Are you kidding?
With all that I envision going on?
Comeon, let's get real here!
