The Troubadour. Canto 4

IT was a wild and untrain'd bower,
Enough to screen from April shower,
Or shelter from June's hotter hour,
Tapestried with starry jessamines,
The summer's gold and silver mines;
With a moss seat, and its turf set
With crowds of the white violet.
And close beside a fountain play'd,
Dim, cool, from its encircling shade;
And lemon trees grew round, as pale
As never yet to them the gale
Had brought a message from the sun
To say their summer task was done.
It was a very solitude
For love in its despairing mood,
With just enough of breath and bloom,
With just enough of calm and gloom,
To suit a heart where love has wrought
His wasting work, with saddest thought;
Where all its sickly fantasies
May call up suiting images:
With flowers like hopes that spring and fade
As only for a mockery made,
And shadows of the boughs that fall
Like sorrow drooping over all.

And LEILA , loveliest! can it be
Such destiny is made for thee?
Yes, it is written on thy brow
The all thy lip may not avow,--
All that in woman's heart can dwell,
Save by a blush unutterable.
Alas! that ever RAYMOND came
To light thy cheek and heart to flame,--
A hidden fire, but not the less
Consuming in its dark recess.

She had leant by his couch of pain,
When throbbing pulse and bursting vein
Fierce spoke the fever, when fate near
Rode on the tainted atmosphere;
And though that parch'd lip spoke alone
Of other love, in fondest tone,
And though the maiden knew that death
Might be upon his lightest breath,
Yet never by her lover's side
More fondly watch'd affianced bride,--
With pain or fear more anxious strove,
Than LEILA watch'd another's love.

Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

Evangeline: A Tale of Acadie

This is the forest primeval. The murmuring pines and the hemlocks,
Bearded with moss, and in garments green, indistinct in the twilight,
Stand like Druids of eld, with voices sad and prophetic,
Stand like harpers hoar, with beards that rest on their bosoms.
Loud from its rocky caverns, the deep-voiced neighboring ocean
Speaks, and in accents disconsolate answers the wail of the forest.

This is the forest primeval; but where are the hearts that beneath it
Leaped like the roe, when he hears in the woodland the voice of the huntsman
Where is the thatch-roofed village, the home of Acadian farmers,--
Men whose lives glided on like rivers that water the woodlands,
Darkened by shadows of earth, but reflecting an image of heaven?
Waste are those pleasant farms, and the farmers forever departed!
Scattered like dust and leaves, when the mighty blasts of October
Seize them, and whirl them aloft, and sprinkle them far o'er the ocean
Naught but tradition remains of the beautiful village of Grand-Pre.

Ye who believe in affection that hopes, and endures, and is patient,
Ye who believe in the beauty and strength of woman's devotion,
List to the mournful tradition still sung by the pines of the forest;
List to a Tale of Love in Acadie, home of the happy.

PART THE FIRST

I

In the Acadian land, on the shores of the Basin of Minas,
Distant, secluded, still, the little village of Grand-Pre
Lay in the fruitful valley. Vast meadows stretched to the eastward,
Giving the village its name, and pasture to flocks without number.
Dikes, that the hands of the farmers had raised with labor incessant,
Shut out the turbulent tides; but at stated seasons the flood-gates
Opened, and welcomed the sea to wander at will o'er the meadows.
West and south there were fields of flax, and orchards and cornfields
Spreading afar and unfenced o'er the plain; and away to the northward
Blomidon rose, and the forests old, and aloft on the mountains
Sea-fogs pitched their tents, and mists from the mighty Atlantic
Looked on the happy valley, but ne'er from their station descended
There, in the midst of its farms, reposed the Acadian village.
Strongly built were the houses, with frames of oak and of hemlock,
Such as the peasants of Normandy built in the reign of the Henries.
Thatched were the roofs, with dormer-windows; and gables projecting
Over the basement below protected and shaded the doorway.
There in the tranquil evenings of summer, when brightly the sunset
Lighted the village street and gilded the vanes on the chimneys,
Matrons and maidens sat in snow-white caps and in kirtles
Scarlet and blue and green, with distaffs spinning the golden
Flax for the gossiping looms, whose noisy shuttles within doors

Satan Absolved

(In the antechamber of Heaven. Satan walks alone. Angels in groups conversing.)
Satan. To--day is the Lord's ``day.'' Once more on His good pleasure
I, the Heresiarch, wait and pace these halls at leisure
Among the Orthodox, the unfallen Sons of God.
How sweet in truth Heaven is, its floors of sandal wood,
Its old--world furniture, its linen long in press,
Its incense, mummeries, flowers, its scent of holiness!
Each house has its own smell. The smell of Heaven to me
Intoxicates and haunts,--and hurts. Who would not be
God's liveried servant here, the slave of His behest,
Rather than reign outside? I like good things the best,
Fair things, things innocent; and gladly, if He willed,
Would enter His Saints' kingdom--even as a little child.

[Laughs. I have come to make my peace, to crave a full amaun,
Peace, pardon, reconcilement, truce to our daggers--drawn,
Which have so long distraught the fair wise Universe,
An end to my rebellion and the mortal curse
Of always evil--doing. He will mayhap agree
I was less wholly wrong about Humanity
The day I dared to warn His wisdom of that flaw.
It was at least the truth, the whole truth, I foresaw
When He must needs create that simian ``in His own
Image and likeness.'' Faugh! the unseemly carrion!
I claim a new revision and with proofs in hand,
No Job now in my path to foil me and withstand.
Oh, I will serve Him well!
[Certain Angels approach. But who are these that come
With their grieved faces pale and eyes of martyrdom?
Not our good Sons of God? They stop, gesticulate,
Argue apart, some weep,--weep, here within Heaven's gate!
Sob almost in God's sight! ay, real salt human tears,
Such as no Spirit wept these thrice three thousand years.
The last shed were my own, that night of reprobation
When I unsheathed my sword and headed the lost nation.
Since then not one of them has spoken above his breath
Or whispered in these courts one word of life or death
Displeasing to the Lord. No Seraph of them all,
Save I this day each year, has dared to cross Heaven's hall
And give voice to ill news, an unwelcome truth to Him.
Not Michael's self hath dared, prince of the Seraphim.
Yet all now wail aloud.--What ails ye, brethren? Speak!
Are ye too in rebellion? Angels. Satan, no. But weak
With our long earthly toil, the unthankful care of Man.

Satan. Ye have in truth good cause.

Angels. And we would know God's plan,
His true thought for the world, the wherefore and the why
Of His long patience mocked, His name in jeopardy.

4th July Blues

I am here alone.
He is in his dark place alone.
Darkness has consumed his life.
I want to pull his body into mine to keep him safe within the light.
I can’t breathe or smile today.
There are no words from him.
Only silences.
I am having 4th July blue day.
My heart is trembling in sorrow.
My soul is screaming words that are no longer hidden away from me.
Tears flow like heaven’s dam has burst free.
Love is strong, but my essence is twisted about dark knots.
Parties are going on today.
Families cooking as their children laugh and run about.
I am here crying with my pain of not having him in my arms.

4th July Blues is coming down hard upon me today.

People are cheering and drinking.
Crowds are flowing about parks with happiness and love.
He is locked in darkness.
I have locked myself away from life and happiness, until he is free.
I love him.
Desire and dreams flow upon the shimmering sky of endless passion.
Tears are always falling like endless of waterfall of hope.
Will he feel my desire and love for him today?
Do I stand to lose him no matter what the future brings upon life?
Heart is beating his haunting name forever.
My soul is listening for his voice to behind me, so when I turn around, I can run into his arms of loves.
Fireworks will soon fill the darken sky about life, but I will be shut away.
There will be no reason to soar or dream, even be happy because my sweet Theo will not be here with me.
How can life be so full of wondrous thing, but full of such darkness that steals people away from your reach?
I am sad and blue upon a day that should be full of happiness and endless dreams coming true.

4th July Blues is tearing my world apart.

Tears flow.
My heart is lost.
Even my soul dares nothing upon each new day that the sun rises without my sweet Theo being within life.
Reasons too dare life is lost and drift farther away from reach,
But
My heart and soul love for Theo is strong and true.
When my knees are becoming weak, it’s his haunting words that pick me and carries me on through-out this day of happiness.
Time will be passing by me and him,
But
I know in the end, my prayers and love is flowing upon wind of life for angels to sing about and God to weep too.
One day, I know I will be able to reach out to him.
One day, he will pick up the pen and paper to write me, if by luck, one day he will reach out to me once again on the phone.
Upon that day,
I will run to him.

Eva And Magaldi/Eva Beware Of The City

Eva: To think that a man as famous as you are
Could love a poor little nothing like me
I wanna be a part of B.A. Buenos Aires
Big Apple

Chorus: She wants to be a part of B.A. Buenos Aires
Big Apple

Che: Just listen to that
They're on to you Magaldi
I'd get out while you can

Eva: It's happened at last
I'm starting to get started
I'm moving out with my man

Magaldi: Now Eva don't get carried away

Eva: Monotony past suburbia departed
Who could ever be fond of the back of beyond

Magaldi: Don't hear words that I didn't say

Chorus: What's that
You'd desert the girl you love

Magaldi: The girl I love
What are you talking about

Juan: She really brightened up your out of town engagement

Chorus: She gave you all she had
She wasn't in your contract
You must be quite relieved that no one's told the papers
So far

Eva: I wanna be a part of B.A. Buenos Aires
Big Apple
Would I have done what I did
If I hadn't thought
If I hadn't known we would stay together

Juan: Seems to me there's no point in resisting
She's made up her mind you've no choice
Why don't you be the man who discovered her
You'll never be remembered for your voice

Magaldi: The city can be paradise for those who have the cash
The class and the connections what you need to make a splash
The likes of you get swept up in the morning with the trash

Epitaph on an Unread Verse after William Carlos Williams' Red Wheelbarrow

This is just to play on plum phrases
hibernating in your brainbox,
which your neurones were probably waiting for
to break free fast.

Forgive me their taste is delicious,
so neat and so bold.

An agèd poet with hollow laughter
swiftly sprayed her incisive syllables
in consonant activity and, yearning,
paid [s]lip service:

so much depends
upon lifelong learning's expectations,
an unread verse [s]pokes for comments,
reigns above lily-livered chicken-hearted critics
before a blank screen.

so much more depends
upon monochromatic ash clouds
glazed with silicates
beside Icelandic
eruptions.

Life is verse role-reversing uninclined ignorance
shadowing dis...inclined ink lined page.

(Revised 3 October 2009 and19 Aptil 2010)

This is Just to Say

I have eaten
the plums
that were in
the icebox

and which
you were probably
saving
for breakfast

Forgive me
they were delicious
so sweet
and so cold
William Carlos Williams 1883_1963

Variation on a Theme by William Carlos Williams
1 I chopped down the house that you had been saving to live in next summer. I am sorry, but it was morning, and I had nothing to do and its wooden beams were so inviting.

Goodnight And Thank You

Che: Goodnight and thank you Huevo
She's in every magazine
Been photographed seen
She is known
We don't like to rush but your case has been packed
If we've missed anything
You could give her a ring
But she won't always answer the phone

Eva: Oh but it's sad when a love affair dies
But we have pretended enough
It's best that we part stop fooling ourselves

Che: Which means

Eva and Che: There is no one no on at all
Never has been and never will be a lover
Male or female
Who hasn't an eye on in fact they rely on tricks they can try on their partner
They're hoping their lover will help them or keep them
Support them promote them
Don't blame them you're the same

Che: Goodnight and thank you Emilio
You've completed your task
What more can we ask of you now
Please sign the book on the way out the door
And that will be all if she needs you she'll call
But I don't think that's likely somehow

Eva: Oh but it's sad when a love affair dies
But when we were hot we were hot
I know you'll look back on the good times we've shared

Che: Which means

Eva and Che: There is no one no on at all
Never has been and never will be a lover
Male or female
Who hasn't an eye on in fact they rely on tricks they can try on their partner
They're hoping their lover will help them or keep them
Support them promote them

Che: Don't blame her you're the same

Eva and female chorus: There is no soap no soap like Zaz
No detergent lotion or oil with such power in the shower
It's the mother and father of luxery lather
The talk of the bath the great ointment
One little frolic with new Zaz carbolic

And The Money Kept Rolling In (And Out)

Che: And the money kept rolling in from every side

Eva's pretty hands reached out and they reached wide
Now you may feel it should have been a voluntary cause
But that's not the point my friends
When the money keeps rolling in you don't ask how
Think of all the people guaranteed a good time now
Eva's called the hungry to her open up the doors
Never been a fund like the Foundation Eva Peron

Rolling rolling rolling
Rolling rolling rolling
Rolling rolling rolling
Rolling rolling rolling
Rolling rolling rolling
Rolling rolling rolling
Rolling rolling rolling
Rolling rolling rolling
Rolling on in rolling on in rolling on in rolling on in on in

Would you like to try a college education
Own your landlord's house take the family on vacation
Eva and her blessed fund can make your dreams come true
Here's all you have to do my friends
Write your name and your dream on a card or a pad or a ticket
Throw it high into the air and should our lady pick it
She will change your way of life for a week or even two
Name me anyone who cares as much as Eva Peron

Rolling rolling rolling
Rolling rolling rolling
Rolling rolling rolling
Rolling rolling rolling
Rolling rolling rolling
Rolling rolling rolling
Rolling rolling rolling
Rolling rolling rolling
Rolling on out rolling on out rolling on out rolling on out on out

And the money kept rolling out in all directions
To the poor to the weak to the destitute of all complexions
Now cynics claim a little of the cash has gone astray
But that's not the point my friends
When the money keeps rolling out you don't keep books
You can tell you've done well by the happy grateful looks
Accountants only slow things down figures get in the way
Never been a lady loved as much as Eva Peron

Rolling rolling rolling
Rolling rolling rolling

I'd Be Surprisingly Good For You

Eva: Colonel Peron

Peron: Eva Duarte

Eva and Peron: I've heard so much about you

Eva: I'm amazed for I'm only an actress
Nothing to shout about only a girl on the air
Together
Peron: I'm amazed for I'm only a soldier
One of the thousands defending the country he loves

Eva: But when you act the things you do affect us all

Peron: But when you act you take us away from the squallor of the real world
Are you here on your own

Eva: Yes oh yes

Peron: So am I
What a fortunate coincidence
Maybe you're my reward for my efforts here tonight

Eva: It seems crazy but you must believe
There's nothing calculated nothing planned
Please forgive me if I seem naive
I would never want to force your hand
But please understand I'd be good for you

I don't always rush in like this
Twenty seconds after saying hello
Telling strangers I'm too good to miss
If I'm wrong I hope you tell me so
But you really should know I'd be good for you
I'd be surprisingly good for you

I won't go on if I'm boring you
But do you understand my point of view
Do you like what you hear what you see and would you be
Good for me too

I'm not talking of a hurried night
A frantic tumble then a shy goodbye
Creeping home before it gets too light
That's not the reason that I caught your eye
Which has to imply I'd be good for you
I'd be surprisingly good for you

Peron: Please go on you enthrall me
I can understand you perfectly

Eva

Dry the tears for holy Eva,
With the blessed angels leave her;
Of the form so soft and fair
Give to earth the tender care.

For the golden locks of Eva
Let the sunny south-land give her
Flowery pillow of repose,
Orange-bloom and budding rose.

In the better home of Eva
Let the shining ones receive her,
With the welcome-voiced psalm,
Harp of gold and waving palm,

All is light and peace with Eva;
There the darkness cometh never;
Tears are wiped, and fetters fall.
And the Lord is all in all.

Weep no more for happy Eva,
Wrong and sin no more shall grieve her;
Care and pain and weariness
Lost in love so measureless.

Gentle Eva, loving Eva,
Child confessor, true believer,
Listener at the Master's knee,
'Suffer such to come to me.'

Oh, for faith like thine, sweet Eva,
Lighting all the solemn river,
And the blessings of the poor
Wafting to the heavenly shore!

The Troubadour. Canto 1

CALL to mind your loveliest dream,--
When your sleep is lull'd by a mountain stream,
When your pillow is made of the violet,
And over your head the branches are met
Of a lime-tree cover'd with bloom and bees,
When the roses' breath is on the breeze,
When odours and light on your eyelids press
With summer's delicious idleness;
And upon you some shadowy likeness may glance
Of the faery banks of the bright Durance;
Just where at first its current flows
'Mid willows and its own white rose,--
Its clear and early tide, or ere
A shade, save trees, its waters bear.

The sun, like an Indian king, has left
To that fair river a royal gift
Of gold and purple; no longer shines
His broad red disk o'er that forest of pines
Sweeping beneath the burning sky
Like a death-black ocean, whose billows lie
Dreaming dark dreams of storm in their sleep
When the wings of the tempest shall over them sweep.
--And with its towers cleaving the red
Of the sunset clouds, and its shadow spread
Like a cloak before it, darkening the ranks
Of the light young trees on the river's banks,
And ending there, as the waters shone
Too bright for shadows to rest upon,
A castle stands; whose windows gleam
Like the golden flash of a noon-lit stream
Seen through the lily and water-flags' screen:
Just so shine those panes through the ivy green,
A curtain to shut out sun and air,
Which the work of years has woven there.
--But not in the lighted pomp of the west
Looks the evening its loveliest;
Enter yon turret, and round you gaze
On what the twilight east displays:
One star, pure, clear, as if it shed
The dew on each young flower's head;
And, like a beauty of southern clime,
Her veil thrown back for the first time,
Pale, timid as she feared to own
Her claim upon the midnight throne,
Shows the fair moon her crescent sign.
--Beneath, in many a serpentine,
The river wanders; chesnut trees
Spread their old boughs o'er cottages
Where the low roofs and porticoes

Miss Reid's Speed Seeds Misread Red Weed Barrow Greed Screed

So much depends upon callow Monsanto’s
arrow minded rein reign
glazed with gain and, again, phrased with pain,

wheedling sallow farmers who see red
forced to furrow b[l]ushels of transgenic sterile crop seeds
on narrow plain
lots which soon lie fallow
rather than wide marrow
raised with rain
and fertile appetizers

Need greed's speed weed reeds
beside white ants’
terror might nest?

Fazed again, who chickens out of errors?

Paradise Lost: Book 04

O, for that warning voice, which he, who saw
The Apocalypse, heard cry in Heaven aloud,
Then when the Dragon, put to second rout,
Came furious down to be revenged on men,
Woe to the inhabitants on earth! that now,
While time was, our first parents had been warned
The coming of their secret foe, and 'scaped,
Haply so 'scaped his mortal snare: For now
Satan, now first inflamed with rage, came down,
The tempter ere the accuser of mankind,
To wreak on innocent frail Man his loss
Of that first battle, and his flight to Hell:
Yet, not rejoicing in his speed, though bold
Far off and fearless, nor with cause to boast,
Begins his dire attempt; which nigh the birth
Now rolling boils in his tumultuous breast,
And like a devilish engine back recoils
Upon himself; horrour and doubt distract
His troubled thoughts, and from the bottom stir
The Hell within him; for within him Hell
He brings, and round about him, nor from Hell
One step, no more than from himself, can fly
By change of place: Now conscience wakes despair,
That slumbered; wakes the bitter memory
Of what he was, what is, and what must be
Worse; of worse deeds worse sufferings must ensue.
Sometimes towards Eden, which now in his view
Lay pleasant, his grieved look he fixes sad;
Sometimes towards Heaven, and the full-blazing sun,
Which now sat high in his meridian tower:
Then, much revolving, thus in sighs began.
O thou, that, with surpassing glory crowned,
Lookest from thy sole dominion like the God
Of this new world; at whose sight all the stars
Hide their diminished heads; to thee I call,
But with no friendly voice, and add thy name,
Of Sun! to tell thee how I hate thy beams,
That bring to my remembrance from what state
I fell, how glorious once above thy sphere;
Till pride and worse ambition threw me down
Warring in Heaven against Heaven's matchless King:
Ah, wherefore! he deserved no such return
From me, whom he created what I was
In that bright eminence, and with his good
Upbraided none; nor was his service hard.
What could be less than to afford him praise,
The easiest recompence, and pay him thanks,
How due! yet all his good proved ill in me,
And wrought but malice; lifted up so high
I sdeined subjection, and thought one step higher

Melissa (live)

Melissa" is an Allman Brothers Band song from 1972. A live IG
version appears on "Shades of Indigo."
Melissa.
Crossroads seem to come and go
The gypsy flies from coast to coast
Knowing many, loving none
Bearing sorrow, having fun
But back home he'll always run
To sweet Melissa.
Freight train, each car looks the same - all the same
No one knows the gypsy's name
No one hears his lonely sighs
There are no blankets where he lies
In all his deepest dreams the gypsy flies
With sweet Melissa.
Again the morning's come
Again he's on the run
Sunbeams shining through his hair
Appearing not to have a care
Pick up your gear, and, gypsy, roll on, roll on
Crossroads, will you ever let him go?
Will you hide the dead man's ghost?
Will he lie beneath the clay?
Will his spirit float away?
But I know that he won't stay
Without Melissa
Yes, I know that he won't stay
Without Melissa

Orlando Furioso Canto 3

ARGUMENT
Restored to sense, the beauteous Bradamant
Finds sage Melissa in the vaulted tomb,
And hears from her of many a famous plant
And warrior, who shall issue from her womb.
Next, to release Rogero from the haunt
Of old Atlantes, learns how from the groom,
Brunello hight, his virtuous ring to take;
And thus the knight's and others' fetters break.

I
Who will vouchsafe me voice that shall ascend
As high as I would raise my noble theme?
Who will afford befitting words, and lend
Wings to my verse, to soar the pitch I scheme?
Since fiercer fire for such illustrious end,
Than what was wont, may well my song beseem.
For this fair portion to my lord is due
Which sings the sires from whom his lineage grew.

II
Than whose fair line, 'mid those by heavenly grace
Chosen to minister this earth below,
You see not, Phoebus, in your daily race,
One that in peace or war doth fairer show;
Nor lineage that hath longer kept its place;
And still shall keep it, if the lights which glow
Within me, but aright inspire my soul,
While the blue heaven shall turn about the pole.

III
But should I seek at full its worth to blaze,
Not mine were needful, but that noble lyre
Which sounded at your touch the thunderer's praise,
What time the giants sank in penal fire.
Yet should you instruments, more fit to raise
The votive work, bestow, as I desire,
All labour and all thought will I combine,
To shape and shadow forth the great design.

IV
Till when, this chisel may suffice to scale
The stone, and give my lines a right direction;
And haply future study may avail,
To bring the stubborn labour to perfection.
Return we now to him, to whom the mail
Of hawberk, shield, and helm, were small protection:
I speak of Pinabel the Maganzeze,
Who hopes the damsel's death, whose fall he sees.

Oh What A Circus

Che: Oh what a circus
Oh what a show
Argentina has gone to town
Over the death of an actress called Eva Peron
We've all gone crazy mourning all day and mourning all night
Falling over ourselves to get all of the misery right

Oh what an exit that's how to go
When they're ringing your curtain down
Demand to be buried like Eva Peron
It's quite a sunset
And good for the country in a roundabout way
We've made the front page of all the world's papers today

But who is this Santa Evita
Why all this howling hysterical sorrow
What kind of goddess has lived among us
How will we ever get by without her

She had her moments she had some style
The best show in town was the crowd
Outside the Casa Rosada crying Eva Peron
But that's all gone now
As soon as the smoke from the funeral clears
We're all gonna see and how
She's done nothing for years

Choir: Salve Regina mater misericordiae
Vita dulcedo et spes nostra
Salve salve Regina
Ad te clamamus
Exules filii Eva
Ad tu suspiramus gementes
Et flentes o clemens o pia

Che: You let down your people Evita
You were supposed to have been immortal
That's all they wanted not much to ask for
But in the end you could not deliver

Sing you fools but you got it wrong
Enjoy your prayers because you haven't got long
Your queen is dead your king is through
And she's not coming back to you

Show business kept us all alive
Since 17 October 1945
But the star has gone
The glamour's worn thin
That's a pretty bad state for a state to be in

Waltz For Eva And Che

Che: Tell me before I waltz out of your life
Before turning my back on the past
Forgive my impertinent behavior
But how long do you think this pantomime can last

Tell me before I ride off in the sunset
There's one thing I never got clear
How can you claim your our savior
When those who oppose you are stepped on or cut up
Or simply disappear

Eva: Tell me before you get onto your bus
Before joining the forgotten brigade
How can one person like me say
Alter the time honored way the game is played

Tell me before you get onto your high horse
Just what you expect me to do
I don't care what the borguoisie say
I'm not in buisness for them but to give all my descamisados
A magical moment or two

Eva and Che: There is evil ever around
Fundamental system of government quite incidental

Eva: So what are my chances of honest advances
I'd say lo better to win by admitting my sin than to lose with the halo

Che: Tell me before I seek worthier pastures
And thereby restore self esteem
How can you be so short sighted
To look never further than this week or next week
To have no impossible dream

Eva: Allow me to help you slink of to the sidelines
And mark your adeiu with three cheers
But first tell me who'd be delighted
If I said I'd take on the world's greatest problems
From war to polution no hope of solution
Even if I live for 100 years

Eva and Che: There is evil ever around
Fundamental system of government
Quite incidental

Eva: So go if you're able to somewhere unstable and stay there
Whip up your hate in some tottering state
But not here dear
Is that clear dear
