Why family?

WHY DOES IT HAVE TO BE the FAMILY THAT DISREPECTS YOU?
WHY DOES IT HAVE TO BE the FAMILY WHO TALK ABOUT YOU BEHIND YOUR BACK?
WHY DOES IT HAVE TO BE THE FAMILY WHO CLOSES THE DOOR WHEN YOU NEED SOMEONE TO TALK TO?
WHY IS IT THE FAMILY WHO COULD CARE LESS ABOUT YOU?
WHY IS IT THE FAMILY who tell others your buisness?
Why does the family try to put you down?
Why does the family act the way they do towards one another?
Why does the family act like they’re not your family?
Why can’t the family just be family?

The Strings That Tie You Down

Youre so close to tellin me youre leaving
Packin up your things and leavin town
If you can walk away the rest is easy
Once you cut the strings that tie you down
Just look me in the eye and say its over
Just tell me you dont want me around
Once you say goodbye, its gone forever
Once you cut the strings that tie you down
Theres no way I can picture me without you
I still think of you in your wedding gown
If I have to give you up, may God be with you
Once you cut the strings that tie you down

Why I Could Care Less' by Lawrence S. Pertillar

I grew up in the projects,
My sister and I.
I was the older...
And expected to be the protector,
Without excuses or alibis.
I had no one older to express my frustrations.
My mother was both my mom and dad then.
And my sister and I were latchkey children!

I grew up with an edge.
A bit of a chip on my shoulder!
I really didn't have a childhood...
I always felt quite older.

And throughout my life...
Witnessing those who whine about petty stuff.
I look back upon my life thanking God,
How I grew up.
I thank God for my parents...
And their struggles to maintain.
My sister Andrea who helped me remain sane!

The Women's League Day Care Center...
With their counselors who guided me on my way.
The residents of Bellevue Square...
To this day I may see a few from those 'golden days'.

And to those who take others for granted.
With demands their selfish whims be met...
If it had not been for them,
And their pointless greed and attitudes...
I probably would not express,
Why I could care less...
About them now being in distress and duress.

My mama taught me a few things about survival...
'What goes up comes down!
Folks who grin and smile...
Will someday show frowns.
Now go outside and try to be a child,
Like the other kids! '

Yes I Am A Christian, Does That Bother You?

My words they come
As I want them to
They may cut some
Does that bother you?

I write my thoughts
My own convictions
Whether they are sought
Not my restriction.

You have your freedom
Well so do I!
My faith consumes
That is no lie.

Yes I'm a Christian
Write most of God,
Share Truth to man
That makes me glad.

I write of Love too
It's part of life,
What all men do-
War, pain, and strife.

Don't try to put me
In your own mold
You let me be
My pen, don't hold.

My Christian words
Just let them fall
This is my Sword-
Don't make the call.

My pen construe
I am a Christian-
I have rights too
Like other humans.

'The Lord will keep you from all harm
He will watch over your coming and you going
both now and forevermore.'

Why does my Girlfriend smell like my mother?

Its Six a clock now
when I get back Home
Sara is there
and she's all along (I think)
Comes out of the bathroom
with a cream colored robe
Smiles so brazenly
with pink porcelain cheeks
She's my scented enchantress,
my fairytale princess
The lady I adore,
with a million stars to sell her
But why ohhh why

Does she smell like my mother?

Met her at a café,
on an autumn Saturday
Stern and punctual
in a Cashmere prefix
Lips tightly locked,
with a combination key
Made my introduction,
and she was reserved
Colder than winter
but I soon got her warm
Through my gentle compassion,
Which caressed her impassion
We soon got acquainted
And the skies were elated
Closing the textbook, we
Talked until dawn until forced from the salon

When the calendar flew,
the two of us grew
A smile on Monday,
to hands glued on Sunday
Trading keys and Itunes,
and warm embraces in rooms
It seemed we were pages
for each other's biography
Completing the opposites
of a Siamese story

But why does she smell like my mother?

Nothing will make me bend my passion for this girl
Even when the seas break and the levee will flood
I'll stand on the ledge of a tower and fall
Knowing that she'll be there to carry my fall
For love is the greatest chemical imbalance
And I'll never retreat from nightingale wreathed
Not even if she smells a lot like my mother.

Never Let You Down

If you don't smile again
You will cry until the end
Cause I know where you're bound
With the sorrow that brings you down
So now I beg of you
Tell me what I can do
To make you smile again
Cause I let you down my friend
Now you're on your own
In a life with your best friend gone
And it ain't easy to be
In a world of misery
So now I beg of you
Tell me what I can do
To make you smile again
Cause I let you down my friend
Your sorrow like rain comes down
In the tears that you shed
Now our love is gone
And your roses are dead
Your sorrow like rain comes down
Your sorrow like rain comes down
Cause I know I let you go
And I'll always regret it
Cause I let you down my friend
But I'll never let you down again
Your sorrow like rain comes down
In the tears that you shed
Now our love is gone
And your roses are dead
Your sorrow like rain comes down
Your sorrow like rain comes down
Cause I know I let you go
I'll always regret it
Cause I let you down my friend
I'll never let you down again
I'll never let you down again
I'll never let you down again
I'll never let you down again
I'll never let you down again
I'll never let you down again

Why Does He Sing Farewell To The Sun?

Why Does He Sing Farewell To The Sun?

Why does he sing farewell to the sun
Jumping at shadows that settle
Around every once bright agile eye
Who's day has gone and come?

When she worships in silence and stars
Under cool shadows overlooked
Out of windows by dreamers undreaming
Slow to fall off on sleep's watchful arms.

Where I am taken by risings and settings
Of twilight's changing dusks to dawns
Walking on cracks between, hearing, and seeing,
Tasting two worlds which touch only one.

Some beginnings feel like others ending
This last day came too close to that first
How time idles off fast and forever
Before knowing what we had was worth.

* * * * * * * * *

What were we, a family of strangers
Afraid of the sting of good bye?
Glad to be a part of what was provided
Ashamed of the ease of not having to try?
Loving and fighting, fire and freeze both skin deep,
Angry at our easy uncaring.
Enjoying the won and lost struggle toward teamwork,
Laughing because we're so human
it hurts.

Why does light kiss the eyes?

why does the light kiss the eyes?
it wishes to spread the best presents
over their lustrious oval tables

why does the air kiss the ears?
it wishes to tell them the sweetest
stories they would ever get to hear

why does water kiss the tongue?
to share with us all the experiences
it has acquired going round the earth

why does the air hug the nose?
to tell us what mom is preparing
in the kitchen and who has come to town

why does the skin wrap us all up?
to make sure we are in safe hands

why does our conscience shake us all the time?
to make sure we dont fall out of the boat to heaven

Why Can't Family Be Family Again

why can't family be family again
we used to always be friends
we used to huddle together
whenever we got scared
we felt the warmth in one anothers arms
because we knew the love was there

we used to build forts out of whatever we had in our rooms
and wage sars
throwing pillows, books, and brooms

we used to have mini mosh pits
with just the four of us
we headbanged and pushed
we screamed and pretended to cuss

we used to protect eachother
we used to defend one another
we used to stand together like brothers and sister
when mom punished us we would all resist her

we used to be a family
a family that would always care
we used to be a family with more happiness than despair
we used to be a family that never hogged food or air
we used to be a family that told eachother we were there

we used to be a family
a family that sat down toghether and ate
we used to be a family full of our own ideas that we create
we used to be a family that got along without debate
we used to be a family with more love than hate

so why can't family be family again
and remember why those times were so good
why can't family be family again
and treat eachother the way we should

why can't family be family again
and throw the hate away
why can't family be family again
and invite the love to stay

Who Knows Which Way the Wind Blows For Them

No it is not a bother at all.
I can not remember if it was you or me,
But...
I do believe we both agreed,
We could care less.
And went on to accept happiness,
To enrich our giving lives.

Perhaps...
That is why the lack of caring,
Has reflected as is observed.
And those who rejected our efforts then,
Are the same ones proclaiming...
A mending of fences with unity can be done.
Who knows which way the wind blows for them!

What Is The Word 'Beauty' And Why Does It Mean So Much To Me?

What is this word ‘Beauty' and why does it mean so much to me?
Why do I see it in so many things?
The trees the flowers
The yellows and the greens
The road stretching before me
The distance of the sky
The light in a small child's eyes
Music that moves me to tears
All kinds of melodies
That linger in people's faces
Kind words and kinder deeds

What is this word ‘Beauty' and why does it mean so much to me?
And why in this small child playing near me now
Do I feel the Goodness and Greatness of God
The Beauty of everything?

The Kid Just Wanted To have The Candy

The kid was alone
had promised her mother
not to let
any stranger in.

The robber knew this
but he was wise
he stood up infront
of the glassed window of the house
where the kid could see him.

The kid saw the robber
and the robber gave him
a kind and gentle smile
while showing a candy
of orange and green colors.

The kid's eyes
opened big and wide
and the robber gave the kid
the sign to open the door.

Little by little
the kid
became closer and closer
to the door
and then...
he opened it!

The kid
just wanted to have
the candy.

If I only have the time, i could have spent that with you

you are a set of words, you are
a line straight and hazy like the
sunset
horizon

i like you and your image of you
metaphorical
sounding like a whisper
a sonorous sound

i like what you have for me
even if the moment was as short as a whimper
as deep as a sigh
i like you whatever that be

you are a poem, and if only
i have more years to live, you are my poem,
how i wish i could have spent
all these days with you, but i am just a mortal man

and my father is the river my mother the ocean
and i no longer belong here, for my life is always one
that moves on

never stopping never questioning
never ending like your imagination
in a span of
divine attention, nothing like an intervention
an acclaim.

Purpose For the Delivery

Evaluating the messenger,
Does not diminish the content of the message.
Nor do judgements given,
Dissect its power.
Options of free will,
Have never stopped the foolish.
Lessons learned too late...
Are what they are!
Lessons learned,
Too late.
Satiating a taste,
For diminishing appetites.

Those believing it is never too late...
Only have to stop their wishes,
For yesterdays reminisced.
To look outside to find that time...
Has not ceased to stop,
For those choosing to block it from moving forward.

It is doing so without one thought about them at all!
And the messenger could care less,
Who addresses what or when.
Or if ever discussed to comprehend.
To gather any attention then.
That is not the purpose for the delivery!
Nor a concern to debate with them!
Just like time...
Coming,
To Go!
With a flow that does not slow,
To await those chasing it!

Don't Let The Bastards Get You Down

They're killing babies in the name of Freedom
We've been down that sorry road before
They let us hang around a little longer than they should have
And it's too late to fool us anymore
We've seen the ones who killed the ones with vision
Cold-blooded murder right before your eyes
Today they hold the power and the money and the guns
It's getting hard to listen to their lies.
Chorus:
And I've just got to wonder what my Daddy would've done
If he'd seen the way they turned his dream around
I've got to go by what he told me, try to tell the truth
And stand your ground
DON'T LET THE BASTARDS GET YOU DOWN
Mining roads
Killing farmers
Burning down schools full of children
Fighting communism
Chorus:
And I've just got to wonder what my Daddy would've done
If he'd seen the way they turned his dream around
I've got to go by what he told me, try to tell the truth
And stand your ground
DON'T LET THE BASTARDS GET YOU DOWN

Some People Just Want the Attention

You're too snooty,
For me to want your booty.
Scented fresh?
I could care less.
Your attitude is not perfumed!
And I quickly distanced myself from it...
When your presence filled the entire room.

You're too self assured!
And nothing is wrong with that.
But I can not imagine you,
Butt naked with me in the sack!
I am not that submissive.
Although I'm known to be attracted,
To domineering folks who trap.
Being hunted and captured...
With sweat pouring down my back.

Yes,
I'm prone to fantasize.
But reality snaps me away from that!

If you softened your eyes,
And licked your lips.
Sat quietly and portrayed...
There was 'something' in your life you missed.
If you spoke in a whisper instead of shouting in a bark...
And pretended I had 'command'
You could have me AND my heart!
But...
You just want to tease!
As if I am here to notice it.

You're too snooty,
For me to want your booty.
Even if you approached me...
I'd teach you a lesson or two!

'You!
Yes...
YOU!
When you are through...
I'm over here! '

Some people just want the attention,
All to themselves!
I thank God I'm not like that!

Dance With The One That Brought You

Well he shines like a penny in a little kid's hand
When he's out on a Saturday night
He's a real go-getter and the best two-stepper you'll see
But when I'm sittin' alone at a table for two
'Cause he's already out on the floor
I think about somethin' that my mama used to say to me
You got to dance with the one that brought you
Stay with the one that want's you
The one who's gonna love you when all of the others go home
Don't let the green grass fool you
Don't let the moon get to you
Dance with the one that brought you and you can't go wrong

He's got his old best buddies and his new best friends
And all the girls give him the eye
He's a good time Charlie and the life of the party tonight
But when I think about another well I don't think twice
'Cause there'll never be another like him
I know he really loves me and I think maybe mama was right

You got to dance with the one that brought you
Stay with the one that want's you
The one who's gonna love you when all of the others go home
Don't let the green grass fool you
Don't let the moon get to you
Dance with the one that brought you and you can't go wrong

You've got to dance with the one that brought you
and you can't go wrong

The Body That Loves You

Love Sensual physical love
Is waiting here for you
Will you unleash my desire?

[CHORUS:]
These are the hands that'll touch you
These are the lips that'll kiss you
These are the arms that'll hold you
So come get this body that loves you
Oh how my heart does miss you

Love
Stroke me so gently my love
I love it when you mmmmm...
Will you unleash my desire?

[CHORUS]

Baby my heart's achin
My body longs for you
Candlelight and wine are waiting
Create the mood for

Love
Sensual physical love
Is waiting here for you
Will you unleash my desire?

[CHORUS]

As I behold you with my eyes
They'll undress you and you'll undress me too
I want to feel you move inside me
Oh how I long for your

Love
Sensual physical love
Is waiting here for you-hoo-hoo
Will you unleash my desire?

[CHORUS]

Love
Stroke me so gently my love
I love it when you mmmmmm
Will you release my desire?

[CHORUS]

Undress me
Slowly
(these are the hands that'll touch you)
I want to kiss you all over
Is that okay?
(these are the lips that'll kiss you)
We embrace...
Skin to skin
(these are the arms that'll hold you)
Hold me
Oh baby
My body's arched for you
(come get this body that loves you)
Come here
I've missed you so much
I forgot how good it could feel
(oh how my heart does miss you)
Please make love to me
(come get the body that loves you)
