Awaiting Lover
I close my eyes
And see him looming
Black and endless
Staring, staring in the night
His bony fingers
Softly scarring my face
tracing lines
Like a lover
Teased too long
He grows impatient
Tugging, tugging at my hair
Transforming raven tresses
Into lifeless white
A Coming winter
I feel his breath
Upon my cheek
His hungry kisses
Pecking, pecking at my lips
Taking little pieces
Till only brittle bones
Lay bear
He whispers to me
In my sleep
You will be mine
Soon, soon my sweet
And though I long to escape,
His bed of earth and worms
Awaits, and I alone
Must come
