In the day I have to
brace myself for the bricks
Of the jabbering of the madam
Mercy God.It's not good girls
to graduate at the top of the
List of condemned house servants
In the night I hear his voice
At midnight I must double as the
free agent lover of the master
Mercy, mercy.it's not good to
earn the college degree of the
Self degrading humiliated maid
In the street I am the butt of
the bawdy jokes of the emperors
Of the slum and the ghetto
Lord it's double double digit
indecent to be hauled to the
Suffering mayhem of the servant
girl
In the church I am no freedom
seeking Rosa Parks.I must get
Out of my seat and stand on tip toe
and play the slave girl's part
For the priest's chosen best
dressed girl
That road is long and fraught
with lurking dangers that the
House slave and the house nigger
maid must travel alone with
The blues filling her mind with
The nasty thoughts of revenge and
mayhem and likewise self slaughter
I am going home tO tell my sister
Never if you don't want to be
plucked for free and abused to please
The lust of the strong stray from
your class room to be the chained
