Venerable old man
shaken by some frisky wind
please excuse
for I too
am a venerable old man
come from the world of cool
so I'm told
You've camped by the fireside
bricked in the oven, over long
I fear
It is unintentional
if ashes and cinders blow about
the robes are turbulent
the times unruly
disciples are delinquent
theirs is a faith
of free doubt and hard question
Old fellow, of such distinction
I know you
have met others of our kind
have encountered the postures
know of deep retrenchment
petty personal resentment
felt the fear of compromise
There is no need
you, and the board
generally, power morons
must simply revise,
obviously you are all
resigned
Hallowed old prophet
you should not seek destruction
you must know the rules
each challenge gives strength
reaction reveals weakness
shakes the mortar of structure
turns the mind
shows ritual truths in a bad light
You feel diminished
by my passing, understandably
I
see clear disaffection about you
know how old scrolls and cellphones
call differently
