Look Back From Me
Hugely great cogs have meshed
squared teeth and turned
those many gears and wheels of existence
space, time, fame, fortune
until you and I have come
page to face
With blind words I greet you,
with utmost humility I stand
quill tucked neatly behind ear
knowing not what you seek
less again what I can possibly offer
You must answer for yourself
you are the greater part of the equation
your quest speaks loudly of determination
for I know myself to be difficult
I am but a lesser value
with little, if anything
of substance
I know not
nor dare presume
however, if need, I shall cup my hands
take your foot
help you ascend
to the next level
wherever that may be
Like an urchin I walked
amongst giants
all fallen, buried in grinding sands
some truly I mourn deeply,
some... whatever
nothing remains even to piss on
but here, look not for others
what remains is
however small
Word wars raged,
winds of fashion breached the sanctum
serendipity made waste
style blazed on zenith
reference and recommendation won great victories
cliques and coteries ruled the salons
loner voices hunted in wilderness
under vines compromised
until all were silenced
judged nuisance
inchoate
