Sixteen Ways to Never Fall In Love
1. Do not read this.
2. Make sure there is only enough room in your pockets
for one night stands
and the receipt for the breakfast
you will eat alone the next morning.
3. Constantly live in the wrong time
because romance
and the watch that ticks on your wrist
never quite seem to line up.
4. Repeat 'I like being alone. It's freeing'
but never learn the feeling
of just how free you can be
when you touch someone
who looks like the dreams you had before you knew
how cruel the world was.
5. Say that you have seen love fall apart
like birds have seen rooftops
but never stop to think
that although it may hurt when it breaks,
that will never change how beautiful it was
when it came together.
6. If you meet someone
who reminds you of magic,
let them vanish into thin air.
7. Instead of whispering secrets
across pillowcases,
let them live inside you
because you believe that never giving voice to your weakness
gives you strength.
8. Do not find out
what the sound of selflessness feels like,
a laugh or a satisfied sigh.
9. Hide the broken parts of yourself
because you think
that brokenness
does not deserve to be loved.
10. Ignore when I say
that brokenness is what needs
and deserves to be loved
