Strange and Unpredictable
When I fall in love,
My heart becomes my foe
And drags me through treacherous streets
To follow after the heels
Of a sweet girl’s darling feet.
I toss and turn
On a sleepless bed,
And dreaming of her hair
Upon her breast
Increases the frantic fever
Of my unrest.
I want to grasp her hand
And lead her to a secret place
Where I can whisper in her ear
A thousand promises to keep
If I have to live a thousand years.
When will I be with Juliet
If I’m the one who fails to dance?
I hope trickster deities
Will not make our wedding bed
Our solemn grave,
But love is strange and unpredictable.
