Wondering-always wondering- what went wrong;
Being challenged physically and emotionally daily...
To the victor so go the spoils?
The Worlds Palm Tree emerges quite bedraggled...
Grown in Brooklyns un-fertile soil? ;
Upper Eastside relevations...! ! !
Leaning near old Spanish town...! ! !
Harlems aspirations redefines my own reality...! ! !
I'm looking up to heaven but with tears of a clown;
We are each given the gift of faith and acceptance...
And our open ability to share our love...
In desperation when learning of being betrayed...
I plead and pray to my God up above;
For answers-so many answers...
As to their real reasons why...! ! !

MILES STANDISH
In the Old Colony days, in Plymouth the land of the Pilgrims
To and fro in a room of his simple and primitive dwelling,
Clad in doublet and hose, and boots of Cordovan leather,
Strode, with a martial air, Miles Standish the Puritan Captain.
Buried in thought he seemed, with his hands behind him, and pausing
Ever and anon to behold his glittering weapons of warfare,
Hanging in shining array along the walls of the chamber, --
Cutlass and corselet of steel, and his trusty sword of Damascus,
Curved at the point and inscribed with its mystical Arabic sentence,
While underneath, in a corner, were fowling-piece, musket, and matchlock.
Short of stature he was, but strongly built and athletic,
Broad in the shoulders, deep-chested, with muscles and sinews of iron;
Brown as a nut was his face, but his russet beard was already
Flaked with patches of snow, as hedges sometimes in November.
Near him was seated John Alden, his friend and household companion,
Writing with diligent speed at a table of pine by the window:
Fair-haired, azure-eyed, with delicate Saxon complexion,
Having the dew of his youth, and the beauty thereof, as the captives

Suddenly breaking the silence, the diligent scribe interrupting,

"Look at these arms," he said, "the war-like weapons that hang here
Burnished and bright and clean, as if for parade or inspection!
This is the sword of Damascus I fought with in Flanders; this breastplate,

ONE eve it happened when I sate alone,

Do you see this Ring?
'T is Rome-work, made to match
(By Castellani's imitative craft)
Etrurian circlets found, some happy morn,
After a dropping April; found alive
Spark-like 'mid unearthed slope-side figtree-roots
That roof old tombs at Chiusi: soft, you see,
Yet crisp as jewel-cutting. There's one trick,
(Craftsmen instruct me) one approved device
And but one, fits such slivers of pure gold
As this was,—such mere oozings from the mine,
Virgin as oval tawny pendent tear
At beehive-edge when ripened combs o'erflow,—
To bear the file's tooth and the hammer's tap:
Since hammer needs must widen out the round,
And file emboss it fine with lily-flowers,
Ere the stuff grow a ring-thing right to wear.
That trick is, the artificer melts up wax
With honey, so to speak; he mingles gold

III. The Other Half-Rome
Another day that finds her living yet,
Little Pompilia, with the patient brow

'THE woman's motive? shall we daub ourselves
With finding roots for nettles? 'tis soft clay
