Contemplation

When pen touches paper
Feelings being to surface
Surge forth, though thought to be
Long forgotten and burried
I do my best to stay in constant motion.
The second I stop to take a breath
Inhale till I feel my lungs will explode
I focus
And,
What do I see before me?
The fortress that I've built and isolated myself in
The moat that can not be crossed
The facade is grand, strong and stout.
No one realizes that it's just an illusion.
I hate loosing my composure.
I'm always in control, not a hair out of place
So it would seem..
I've suffered some injustice
Years and years ago
Promised myself never to repeat a mistake
Well,
I haven't made any
I haven't moved from where I
Decided to sit that day.
I thought I would watch the world go by for a while.
See what passes before my eyes and not be a participant.
I needed to take a breath..
So I inhaled deeply, filled my lungs, and sat..
And
Now
It seems if my feet did touch the floor
If I stood to walk,
I'd fall.
Knowing the pain will shoot up my legs
Send needles of realization through and through me
I'd have to grit my teeth and propel myself forward..
It's going to hurt..
I know I need to try.
But,
I don't know if I can remember
What if the pain is unbearable
And,
I'm crippled for life.
But, like this,
What is my life
Sitting here
Watching the world go by?
