My Mind
My mind,
I find
Is not
The most interesting place.
The realization
Hits me in the face.
I am amazed,
I have allowed
It to control
My days
And nights,
Even my dreams
When I sleep.
Oh, now I know,
Why they say
Meditate,
To achieve
A state of stillness
And heightened awareness.
to step out
Of the mind, I don’t always
Have to sit with my eyes closed.
Tending to my Roses,
Baking a cake,
Walking by the lake,
Writing on my pad,
Playing with my cat,
Are some of the things
Which make me hum and sing,
And get out of my mind
Stepping back helps me gain
Peace and new insight.
