Natural tints and shades! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !
I plucked some flowers
Of Frangipani and bougainvillea
From the garden,
And a few variegated leaves
Of delicate caladium
And syngonium;
Excited took them to
The guy who dyes
My chiffon saris and tops.
Can you mix these tints
And shades?
Mam, he said
I humbly admit,
I can’t make any promise
These are God made.
I use vegetable
And flower dyes.
A little hesitant
He added after a while,
I must try with
The deft hands
And imagination
