Love 's Terrain
At what point was our love
checked into the Found and Lost?
Who declared it without an owner
and turned it in?
Who turned it down
at the Lost and Found?
Who came to make a claim?
I did;
but they said
it took two.
Was it lost in your eyes?
Was is boredom
or other eyes
which sought you?
Were my eyes not seeing enough;
seeing too much.
Was it lost in your fears and failings?
At what point did
love commit suicide
fall down
to gravity
and dissolve away?
Was it a word?
A gesture?
A Look?
A Circumstance?
A fault on our emotional terrain?
which cracked rumbled
and swallowed my soul whole?
How many question marks
will it take?
To know?
Even if I knew
would I go
to the Found and Lost
and even if our love was there
on the Found Shelf
