You Say You...Love Me

You say you...
Love me!

But you get up and you run.
But you get up and you run.

How can I tell...
When you get up and you run.
When you get up and you run.

You say you want me.

But...
There is nothing proven done.
There is nothing proven done.

And I know too well...
A love that's meant to be for me,
Doesn't run away...
Escaping,
To Be Chased.

A love that's meant to be for me...
Doesn't run away,
To be chased!
And not by me.
No.

When you get up and you run.
Go!
There is nothing proven done.
No!

A love that's meant to be for me...
Doesn't run away to be chased!
And not by me.
No.

When you get up and you run.
Go!
There is nothing proven done.
No!

You say you...

Running on

Running on
But you, don't know what you're running from
Hiding on
But you, don't know what you're hiding from

It's amazing
You're acting so crazy
You're trying to persuade me
There's no escaping

Taking off in full drive
Afraid of the full ride
You're trying to persuade me
There's no escaping

Running on
But you, don't know what you're running from
Hiding on
But you, don't know what you're hiding from

On the move
Everyplace I try to talk to you
You don't know what to do
I really can't tell whats wrong with you
Every time you see my face
You act amazed
Stunned I'm still in this place
And haven't yet escaped
I don't know what what you're trying to do
I don't know if I should be running too
Away from who?
I need a clue
You won't give me answers
Just keep moving faster
From a huge disaster
That's trying to get after
you....and us others, too...

Running on
But you, don't know what you're running from
Hiding on
But you, don't know what you're hiding from

It's amazing
You're acting so crazy
You're trying to persuade me
There's no escaping

Crawl

Hopeless dead wretched failing
never escaping never escaping
Hopeless dead wretched failing
Never escaping never escaping
Beg for your life pray for your life
Beg for your life into the light
Into the light you were right
Into the light Save my life
Crawl to your destination
Crawl to obliteration
Crawl in your desperation
Crawl to annihilation
Hopeless dead wretched failing
Never escaping never escaping
Hopeless dead wretched failing

Escaping Reality

Everyone has their own way
of escaping the tortures of life
Some write, some daydream, some listen to the music of today
These tools bring pleasure in repelling
pain, hurt, and depression of the cycleyou call everyday life
My way of escaping reality
is the process of closing my eyes and falling asleep
in my cold frigid environment of rest
wrapped closely in covers dreaming away
Closing my eyes brings pleasure to
my bittersweet life and sweetens my dreams
Dreaming of my candy clouds in the sky
Dreaming of candy filled farms
Dreaming of rainbows and gold at the foot
brings hopefulness into my life and
helps me survive the hell people call life
realeasing feelings I have bottled up inside
Letting go of the attitude I contained that night
Escaping reality lets go of the built up tension
which has contaminated my mind and thoughts
and complicates my judgement
releasing the killer that has stolen my happiness
Stabbing and salting the wound of childhood deprivation
Escaping reality gives me the gift of forgiveness
and reincarnates a new me day-to-day
in hopes of continuing the new day
as I have completed the last
release the killer that makes your life fade away
escaping reality gives me a bloodless win
over life itself from time to time
and will continue to do so forever
find your way of escaping before it makes
you a numb bloodsucking killer of those who walk alone the earth today

XI. Guido

You are the Cardinal Acciaiuoli, and you,
Abate Panciatichi—two good Tuscan names:
Acciaiuoli—ah, your ancestor it was
Built the huge battlemented convent-block
Over the little forky flashing Greve
That takes the quick turn at the foot o' the hill
Just as one first sees Florence: oh those days!
'T is Ema, though, the other rivulet,
The one-arched brown brick bridge yawns over,—yes,
Gallop and go five minutes, and you gain
The Roman Gate from where the Ema's bridged:
Kingfishers fly there: how I see the bend
O'erturreted by Certosa which he built,
That Senescal (we styled him) of your House!
I do adjure you, help me, Sirs! My blood
Comes from as far a source: ought it to end
This way, by leakage through their scaffold-planks
Into Rome's sink where her red refuse runs?
Sirs, I beseech you by blood-sympathy,
If there be any vile experiment
In the air,—if this your visit simply prove,
When all's done, just a well-intentioned trick,
That tries for truth truer than truth itself,
By startling up a man, ere break of day,
To tell him he must die at sunset,—pshaw!
That man's a Franceschini; feel his pulse,
Laugh at your folly, and let's all go sleep!
You have my last word,—innocent am I
As Innocent my Pope and murderer,
Innocent as a babe, as Mary's own,
As Mary's self,—I said, say and repeat,—
And why, then, should I die twelve hours hence? I
Whom, not twelve hours ago, the gaoler bade
Turn to my straw-truss, settle and sleep sound
That I might wake the sooner, promptlier pay
His due of meat-and-drink-indulgence, cross
His palm with fee of the good-hand, beside,
As gallants use who go at large again!
For why? All honest Rome approved my part;
Whoever owned wife, sister, daughter,—nay,
Mistress,—had any shadow of any right
That looks like right, and, all the more resolved,
Held it with tooth and nail,—these manly men
Approved! I being for Rome, Rome was for me.
Then, there's the point reserved, the subterfuge
My lawyers held by, kept for last resource,
Firm should all else,—the impossible fancy!—fail,
And sneaking burgess-spirit win the day.
The knaves! One plea at least would hold,—they laughed,—
One grappling-iron scratch the bottom-rock

VII. Pompilia

I am just seventeen years and five months old,
And, if I lived one day more, three full weeks;
'T is writ so in the church's register,
Lorenzo in Lucina, all my names
At length, so many names for one poor child,
—Francesca Camilla Vittoria Angela
Pompilia Comparini,—laughable!
Also 't is writ that I was married there
Four years ago: and they will add, I hope,
When they insert my death, a word or two,—
Omitting all about the mode of death,—
This, in its place, this which one cares to know,
That I had been a mother of a son
Exactly two weeks. It will be through grace
O' the Curate, not through any claim I have;
Because the boy was born at, so baptized
Close to, the Villa, in the proper church:
A pretty church, I say no word against,
Yet stranger-like,—while this Lorenzo seems
My own particular place, I always say.
I used to wonder, when I stood scarce high
As the bed here, what the marble lion meant,
With half his body rushing from the wall,
Eating the figure of a prostrate man—
(To the right, it is, of entry by the door)
An ominous sign to one baptized like me,
Married, and to be buried there, I hope.
And they should add, to have my life complete,
He is a boy and Gaetan by name—
Gaetano, for a reason,—if the friar
Don Celestine will ask this grace for me
Of Curate Ottoboni: he it was
Baptized me: he remembers my whole life
As I do his grey hair.

All these few things
I know are true,—will you remember them?
Because time flies. The surgeon cared for me,
To count my wounds,—twenty-two dagger-wounds,
Five deadly, but I do not suffer much—
Or too much pain,—and am to die to-night.

Oh how good God is that my babe was born,
—Better than born, baptized and hid away
Before this happened, safe from being hurt!
That had been sin God could not well forgive:
He was too young to smile and save himself.
When they took two days after he was born,
My babe away from me to be baptized
And hidden awhile, for fear his foe should find,—

Gareth And Lynette

The last tall son of Lot and Bellicent,
And tallest, Gareth, in a showerful spring
Stared at the spate. A slender-shafted Pine
Lost footing, fell, and so was whirled away.
'How he went down,' said Gareth, 'as a false knight
Or evil king before my lance if lance
Were mine to use--O senseless cataract,
Bearing all down in thy precipitancy--
And yet thou art but swollen with cold snows
And mine is living blood: thou dost His will,
The Maker's, and not knowest, and I that know,
Have strength and wit, in my good mother's hall
Linger with vacillating obedience,
Prisoned, and kept and coaxed and whistled to--
Since the good mother holds me still a child!
Good mother is bad mother unto me!
A worse were better; yet no worse would I.
Heaven yield her for it, but in me put force
To weary her ears with one continuous prayer,
Until she let me fly discaged to sweep
In ever-highering eagle-circles up
To the great Sun of Glory, and thence swoop
Down upon all things base, and dash them dead,
A knight of Arthur, working out his will,
To cleanse the world. Why, Gawain, when he came
With Modred hither in the summertime,
Asked me to tilt with him, the proven knight.
Modred for want of worthier was the judge.
Then I so shook him in the saddle, he said,
"Thou hast half prevailed against me," said so--he--
Though Modred biting his thin lips was mute,
For he is alway sullen: what care I?'

And Gareth went, and hovering round her chair
Asked, 'Mother, though ye count me still the child,
Sweet mother, do ye love the child?' She laughed,
'Thou art but a wild-goose to question it.'
'Then, mother, an ye love the child,' he said,
'Being a goose and rather tame than wild,
Hear the child's story.' 'Yea, my well-beloved,
An 'twere but of the goose and golden eggs.'

And Gareth answered her with kindling eyes,
'Nay, nay, good mother, but this egg of mine
Was finer gold than any goose can lay;
For this an Eagle, a royal Eagle, laid
Almost beyond eye-reach, on such a palm
As glitters gilded in thy Book of Hours.
And there was ever haunting round the palm
A lusty youth, but poor, who often saw

I know their name. I saw their picture in the paper yesterday
I know their name. I saw the story that was written on the page
I know their name. I used to play with them they lived a block away

Quick Seizures

Run...
Through the valleys of your deepest fears,
And escaping pain.

Run...
And stay clear of deceptive faces,
Some may take time...
To define and clarify.

Run...
Out pace temptations chasing,
They too seek someone to cling onto.
Someone like you,
In denial and yet,
Knowing on the inside
Someone like you,
Not showing it on the outside
Is inside desiring...
Needs you have to be touched,
Fucked and satisfied!
But prostitution should not be,
What this feeling can deliver...
When it's been on hold overtime!
To slowly freeze.

You're ready to thaw!

Run...
They seek quick seizures.
With judgements passed to place!
They come to haunt you with false charges.
Memories revealed you knew weren't real of face!

Run...
Your peace of mind is wanted,
And it threatens those with no sense.
Even though they know you know it shows...
They feel better with you caged and fenced!

Run...
Through the valleys of your deepest fears,
And escaping pain.

Run...
And stay clear of deceptive faces,
Some may take time...
To define and clarify.

When you've got them out of view...
Forget their constant screaming!

The Sun chased the Moon

The wild flowers bloom, the first snow melts,
The rain stops, the rainbow fades.
While the Sun chased the Moon...

The first fish swam, the first bird flew,
The first mammal ran, the first Man stand.
While the Sun chased the Moon...

Buildings scraped the sky, wheels rule the streets,
Man became oblivious to everything except what they need.
Still the Sun chased the Moon...

The Earth chokes, the Air appalls,
The Water tainted, the Sky weeps.
Still the Sun chased the Moon...

Love found, love lost,
In a vicious cycle of tears and joy.
Still the Sun chased the Moon...

Hopes and dreams piled up high,
With one kick all comes tumbling-by.
Still the Sun chased the Moon...

Civilizations fall, Men slaughtered,
Wars rage on as if they'd never stop
Still the Sun chased the Moon...

A millenia the chase lasted,
Another millenia it'll go on.

Darkness falls, the Moon comes out
Rest assured the Sun is not far behind.

The Day may seem at its worst,
The Night may seem it could never get better.

Fear not, weep not.
As long as the Sun chases the Moon, there is hope.

A Hope for a new Day,
Hope for a new beginning.

The winds of loneliness howls in your chest
The turbulence of the storm rages on...

Alas, this is how we're meant to be,
The pain will never quite go away.

There will always be Hope,

The Visitors

I hear the doorbell ring and suddenly the panic takes me
The sound so ominously tearing through the silence
I cannot move, Im standing
Numb and frozen
Among the things I love so dearly
The books, the paintings and the furniture
Help me...
The signals sounding once again and someone tries the doorknob
None of my friends would be so stupidly impatient
And they dont dare to come here
Anymore now
But how I loved our secret meetings
We talked and talked in quiet voices
Smiling...
Now I hear them moving muffled noises coming through the door I feel Im crackin up
Voices growing louder, irritation building and Im close to fainting crackin up
They must know by now Im in here trembling in a terror evergrowing crackin up
My whole world is falling, going crazy there is no escaping now, Im crackin up
These walls have witnessed all the anguish of humiliation
And seen the hope of freedom glow in shining faces
And now theyve come to take me
Come to break me
And yet it isnt unexpected
I have been waiting for these visitors
Help me...

Surrender

Is this real enough for you,
You were so confused.
Now that you've decided to stay,
We'll remain together.
You can depend on me,
You belong to me.
Breath in and take my life in you,
No longer myself, only you,
There's no escaping me, my love,
Surrender.
Darling, there's no sense in running,
You know I will find you.
Everything is perfect now,
We can live forever.
You can depend on me,
You belong to me.
Breath in and take my life in you,
No longer myself, only you,
There's no escaping me, my love,
Surrender.
I don't know me,
You don't...
Breath in and take my life in you,
No longer myself, only you,
There's no escaping me, my love,
Surrender.
Surrender.
Surrender.
Surrender.
No will from me, right through me,
There's no escaping from me.

Prince Hohenstiel-Schwangau, Saviour of Society

Epigraph

I slew the Hydra, and from labour pass'd
To labour — tribes of labours! Till, at last,
Attempting one more labour, in a trice,
Alack, with ills I crowned the edifice.

You have seen better days, dear? So have I
And worse too, for they brought no such bud-mouth
As yours to lisp "You wish you knew me!" Well,
Wise men, 't is said, have sometimes wished the same,
And wished and had their trouble for their pains.
Suppose my Œdipus should lurk at last
Under a pork-pie hat and crinoline,
And, latish, pounce on Sphynx in Leicester Square?
Or likelier, what if Sphynx in wise old age,
Grown sick of snapping foolish people's heads,
And jealous for her riddle's proper rede, —
Jealous that the good trick which served the turn
Have justice rendered it, nor class one day
With friend Home's stilts and tongs and medium-ware,—
What if the once redoubted Sphynx, I say,
(Because night draws on, and the sands increase,
And desert-whispers grow a prophecy)
Tell all to Corinth of her own accord.
Bright Corinth, not dull Thebes, for Lais' sake,
Who finds me hardly grey, and likes my nose,
And thinks a man of sixty at the prime?
Good! It shall be! Revealment of myself!
But listen, for we must co-operate;
I don't drink tea: permit me the cigar!
First, how to make the matter plain, of course —
What was the law by which I lived. Let 's see:
Ay, we must take one instant of my life
Spent sitting by your side in this neat room:
Watch well the way I use it, and don't laugh!
Here's paper on the table, pen and ink:
Give me the soiled bit — not the pretty rose!
See! having sat an hour, I'm rested now,
Therefore want work: and spy no better work
For eye and hand and mind that guides them both,
During this instant, than to draw my pen
From blot One — thus — up, up to blot Two — thus —
Which I at last reach, thus, and here's my line
Five inches long and tolerably straight:

VI. Giuseppe Caponsacchi

Answer you, Sirs? Do I understand aright?
Have patience! In this sudden smoke from hell,—
So things disguise themselves,—I cannot see
My own hand held thus broad before my face
And know it again. Answer you? Then that means
Tell over twice what I, the first time, told
Six months ago: 't was here, I do believe,
Fronting you same three in this very room,
I stood and told you: yet now no one laughs,
Who then … nay, dear my lords, but laugh you did,
As good as laugh, what in a judge we style
Laughter—no levity, nothing indecorous, lords!
Only,—I think I apprehend the mood:
There was the blameless shrug, permissible smirk,
The pen's pretence at play with the pursed mouth,
The titter stifled in the hollow palm
Which rubbed the eyebrow and caressed the nose,
When I first told my tale: they meant, you know,
"The sly one, all this we are bound believe!
"Well, he can say no other than what he says.
"We have been young, too,—come, there's greater guilt!
"Let him but decently disembroil himself,
"Scramble from out the scrape nor move the mud,—
"We solid ones may risk a finger-stretch!
And now you sit as grave, stare as aghast
As if I were a phantom: now 't is—"Friend,
"Collect yourself!"—no laughing matter more—
"Counsel the Court in this extremity,
"Tell us again!"—tell that, for telling which,
I got the jocular piece of punishment,
Was sent to lounge a little in the place
Whence now of a sudden here you summon me
To take the intelligence from just—your lips!
You, Judge Tommati, who then tittered most,—
That she I helped eight months since to escape
Her husband, was retaken by the same,
Three days ago, if I have seized your sense,—
(I being disallowed to interfere,
Meddle or make in a matter none of mine,
For you and law were guardians quite enough
O' the innocent, without a pert priest's help)—
And that he has butchered her accordingly,
As she foretold and as myself believed,—
And, so foretelling and believing so,
We were punished, both of us, the merry way:
Therefore, tell once again the tale! For what?
Pompilia is only dying while I speak!
Why does the mirth hang fire and miss the smile?
My masters, there's an old book, you should con
For strange adventures, applicable yet,

Our Time Is Fading

Cut my wings, I'm growing them back today
Tomorrow's not changed, tomorrow's a bribe, tomorrow's not today
So I don't want to feel alive
I don't want to cheat my mind
Everybody trip, everybody slip
Come down, come down
I know our time is fading
And I know you're here to save me
I've been patiently waiting
It's alright, it's alright, it's alright
I know we're up and fading
I know there is no escaping
I've been patiently waiting
It's alright, it's alright it's all...
Let me in, you're up in my face
Tomorrow's a lie, tomorrow's a bribe, tomorrow's not today
So I don't want to feed my mind
And I don't want to feel unkind
Everybody trip, everybody slip
Come down, come down
I know our time is fading
And I know you're here to save me
I've been patiently waiting
It's alright, it's alright, it's alright
I know we're up and fading
I know there is no escaping
I've been patiently waiting
It's alright, it's alright it's all...
You-ohh
Yeah-ahhhh
Yeah-ahhhh
Yeah-woaaaah
Cut my wings off
Suffocate me
I know our time is fading
And I know you're here to save me
I've been patiently waiting
It's alright, it's alright, it's alright
I know we're up and fading
I know there is no escaping
I've been patiently waiting
It's alright, it's alright it's all...

The Proposition

You cant have the flower without the root
You cant have the fire without the soot
Even a stripper needs her red tasseled suit
And we were meant to be
In every war the north needs the south
And everyone knows all assholes have a mouth
Without mystery what would writers talk about
And we were meant to be
An apple needs pits the way melons need seed
Your foot needs your arm and your arm needs your knee
And one of these days I know you will need me
We were meant to be, ooohhh, we were meant to be
Youre mothers an ogre your fathers a scamp
You wont see my parents honored on any stamp
But just like a bulb screws into a lamp
We were meant to be
The way the aids needs a vaccine, somewhere a vaccine needs
Aids, the way a victim needs life, a life needs to be saved
And out of all of this will come a better way
We were meant to be
So you can go to europe, los angeles or mars
You can stand on a building throwing cinder blocks on cars
You can practice deep voodoo, but like me youll see
We were meant to be, we were meant to be
We were meant to be
We were meant to be
We were meant to be
We were meant to be
We were meant to be

Rabiteen

He said that he would stay forever
forever wasn't very long
He said that he would take the high road
He thought that I was always wrong

Cause when he lied it meant he loved me
And when he lied it meant he cared
And when he lied it meant he loved me
Cause when he lied it meant that he was there

He said that he would go his own way
wrapped up my leg and down my spine
He said that he would be the fairest
Drenched in blood and turpentine

Cause when he lied it meant he loved me
And when he lied it meant he cared
And when he lied it meant he loved me
Cause when he lied it meant that he was there

I am never going back I don't care what he said
I wish he could see the hate in my head
I am never going back I don't care what he said
I wish he could see the hate in my head
I am never going back I don't care what he said
I wish he could see the hate in my head
I am never going back I don't care what he said
I wish he could see the hate

He said that he would tell no secrets
He said that he would never lie
He said that he would spring eternal
He said that we would never die

Cause when he lied it meant he loved me
And when he lied it meant he cared
And when he lied it meant he loved me
Cause when he cried it meant he cared

Cause when he lied it meant he loved me
And when he lied it meant he cared
And when he lied it meant he loved me
Cause when he lied it meant that
he was
he was
he was
He was there

Lancelot And Elaine

Elaine the fair, Elaine the loveable,
Elaine, the lily maid of Astolat,
High in her chamber up a tower to the east
Guarded the sacred shield of Lancelot;
Which first she placed where the morning's earliest ray
Might strike it, and awake her with the gleam;
Then fearing rust or soilure fashioned for it
A case of silk, and braided thereupon
All the devices blazoned on the shield
In their own tinct, and added, of her wit,
A border fantasy of branch and flower,
And yellow-throated nestling in the nest.
Nor rested thus content, but day by day,
Leaving her household and good father, climbed
That eastern tower, and entering barred her door,
Stript off the case, and read the naked shield,
Now guessed a hidden meaning in his arms,
Now made a pretty history to herself
Of every dint a sword had beaten in it,
And every scratch a lance had made upon it,
Conjecturing when and where: this cut is fresh;
That ten years back; this dealt him at Caerlyle;
That at Caerleon; this at Camelot:
And ah God's mercy, what a stroke was there!
And here a thrust that might have killed, but God
Broke the strong lance, and rolled his enemy down,
And saved him: so she lived in fantasy.

How came the lily maid by that good shield
Of Lancelot, she that knew not even his name?
He left it with her, when he rode to tilt
For the great diamond in the diamond jousts,
Which Arthur had ordained, and by that name
Had named them, since a diamond was the prize.

For Arthur, long before they crowned him King,
Roving the trackless realms of Lyonnesse,
Had found a glen, gray boulder and black tarn.
A horror lived about the tarn, and clave
Like its own mists to all the mountain side:
For here two brothers, one a king, had met
And fought together; but their names were lost;
And each had slain his brother at a blow;
And down they fell and made the glen abhorred:
And there they lay till all their bones were bleached,
And lichened into colour with the crags:
And he, that once was king, had on a crown
Of diamonds, one in front, and four aside.
And Arthur came, and labouring up the pass,
All in a misty moonshine, unawares
